Oh Forgetful One

blog list AprilMy newest idea is to tape my short list inside my Nook. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that before. 🙂 I open my Nook everyday whether for reading or using other Apps. I think that will work. Right? Who am I kidding I am the queen of procrastination.

I really try to keep myself productive during the day since I do not work outside of the home. I like to make lists because as I cross them off I feel like I have accomplished something. A bit of a mind game with myself. It helps to keep me on track. When it works. 🙂

I have a calendar in Google with everyday tasks and print it out weekly. I don’t always follow it in the order it is listed. I definitely don’t accomplish all the tasks. Why the heck do I keep making them?

I think it makes me feel like I am working. I had a calendar at work, when I was working, that kept track of deadlines so I guess that is why I still make them.

I know if I didn’t put certain tasks or events on it I would definitely forget them. It has happened on occasion.

Recently I was busy doing research online and completely forgot to pick up my son from school!

If my google calendar had not sent me the text my son would have walked all the way home. Thank goodness it was a nice day and he had headed this way.

Of course, when I reached him he gave me a difficult time. 🙂 If we lived closer to the school, I wouldn’t mind him walking but it is quite a hike. Plus, it gets me out of the house and breaks the routine of the day to go pick him up. 🙂

I have on my Google calendar when to write, blog, clean, errands, art, emails, bills, and the biggest one I forget to do EXERCISE! 🙂 Hmm maybe that is more being lazy. I do like to exercise I just don’t seem to accomplish that one as often as I should. I am a creature of habit so I need to make it a habit.

Guess what I do with each sheet printed? Trash? Keep?

Yes, I three hole punch each week and it is nicely put in a notebook. I’m weird. 🙂 It actually comes back to that forgetful thing. I can look up a certain day and know a bit of what I did. I also write on it when I take my blood pressure pills, etc. It has many purposes.

It has been handy if I need to look back on those days if someone has a question about something on one of the days.

When I was in my teenage years and even twenties I could recall almost anything without ever writing it down.  Miss that. 😦

One good thing, gives me reason to buy lots of neat post-it notes and play with templates for calendars on the computer. 🙂

Do you have to keep track of tasks and notes? Is your memory still as sharp as a whipper snapper? (My grandma use to say that)

  2. I am very forgetful I make lists and forget the list. Today I went shopping and forgot to buy eggs luckily I remembered as I was on my way out of the shop when I realised I had forgotten the milk I went back and got the milk if hadn’t I would be on cold drinks until I next go to town.

I don’t know if there is anything that can be done, notes don’t work, lists don’t and nor do post its I’ve got post its on my pc and on my laptop.

The good news is that as we get older we can blame it on age the bad news is we might be right!

  3. I’ve learned that if I don’t write something down the minute it pops into my head, it’s gone forever. Sometimes it reappears again at 3 am, and then by morning it’s long gone again. Sigh.

  5. Thanks for the Twitter shout out. it reminded me to stop by and see what you’ve been up to. 🙂

This is a great post. I’m not one for making lists (except for groceries and I still forget things on my list), but I really like the way you try to organize your day/week. I never thought to use a calendar for daily tasks. I’m going to ponder your approach and probably give some of it a try. I definitely need to motivate myself more to get things done around the house – and exercise! I’m hoping to set aside a specific block of time for writing – so it’s more like “going to work” everyday. Same time every day.

Forgetting to pick up your son – LOL! I can see where that could happen.

We have a grocery store that sends your groceries to an outside area via conveyor belt. You then drive around to the pick up point to get your bags. They eliminate shopping carts in the parking lot this way. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve come home only to realize I forgot to get the groceries!

    • Carrying on our Twitter conversation (can use more characters here ) … I actually love my writing space. But with the boy back home, and the fact that he claimed the front room for his own, he and hubby and the dog are running past me a million times a day, and there is more noise now in the house than ever before. I’ve been on them for a while now that I need a new/quiet place to write. This is what my space looks like now: http://breezybooksblog.wordpress.com/2012/09/02/a-fine-writing-for-place/ After they get the room done upstairs, I’ll show you my new space. 🙂

      • I think your writing space is very organized! I find this smaller duplex can be distracting with all the traffic of kids and hubby. I really enjoy when the kids are in school to concentrate better. I miss my nice office back home. 🙂 My office is now shared with our bedroom. I hate that. It works right now since hubby is on the road most of the time. I can even stay up now! 🙂 I definitely want to see pictures. I love remodels. 🙂 Just not living in them. LOL Good to hear from you! 🙂 I did download another of your books! It’s next to be read after my current one. I am behind on my reading goal for this year….bummer. Happy writing and spring cleaning! 🙂

    • Hi there! I knew you had been busy but thought I would drop the line to let you know I had been thinking about you. 🙂

Thank you on the post. I love lists. It was funny, the day I wrote this I walked out the door without my grocery list. Good grief! 😉 The calendar does help me to feel like I am accomplishing things during the day. It does help me to write a bit more. I still have a ways to go to accomplish what I really want on that. Baby steps. 🙂

I couldn’t believe I had forgot him. Especially, when I had just looked at the clock, or so it seemed. Luckily, the school is only about ten minutes away if traffic isn’t bad. He was smiling when I met him along the way. 🙂

I had not heard of a grocery store doing that. I think that is cool, but yet I worked in a grocery store for over twenty years between the two that I worked in. My boss back home wouldn’t allow the carts outside but we still bagged and carried out the groceries for customers. I would probably forget the groceries as well.
