Run, Turkey, Run!

There’s nothing quite like waking up about 10 a.m. to the smell of succulent turkey, the haze of soft light reflecting through an ice covered window, and the sound of Grandpa telling someone we have 2 inches of snow on the ground already. This is Thanksgiving in Nebraska.

Luckily my grandpa has a couple exercise machines in his basement. This morning I started my day by replying to “Happy Thanksgiving” texts, giving my fingers a work out of their own, and then ran for 15 minutes. I finished just over a mile by the time I was done. I hopped in the shower, made some eggs, and sat down to blog.The Macy’s Day parade and Purina Dog Show are on; however, just because it’s the holiday doesn’t mean you can’t stay motivated and focused.

As I run, I image a turkey, running away from thanksgiving dinner. He has ruffled feathers…

What The Heck Is That

I am going to write “What The Heck Is That” blogs once in awhile. I think it will help sharpen the research skills, plus I like to learn new things. 🙂

The first is about bill lawrence tele pickups. If you are like me, what are those? Well, in simple terms it is the part of the guitar that transduces the vibrations from the strings and converts them to a signal that is amplified. My understanding that I reached from reading several different definitions with technical terms. 🙂

Cool. I did not know that. Did you?

I wanted to learn the guitar when I was small but never did. I did buy a basic guitar for my oldest son hoping he would learn but he never did. Guess it is not in our genes. 🙂

I do love the sound of an electric guitar on stage and especially when they start jamming out. Who can’t help but to jam along! 🙂

Roadblock=Don’t Use

I am shaking my head this morning like most mornings. My city is working on a stretch of road that is close to my sons’ Middle School. It is a small stretch but it does force cars to take a long detour. It is completely blocked off with those cute signs above which means stay out. They have prepared it with gravel for the next step of laying asphalt, I assume. This morning I see a car stop in front, he gets out and moves one of them. At first, thinking ok maybe he works there and is checking something which still don’t know why you would need to drive in.

I finish taking the boys to school and come back by and see that he drove through. He did not even close it back up. The not so law abiding man didn’t want to turn around so he drove through so he could get to the highway that is a few feet away. Seriously!

Then I look in my rear mirror and see a pickup go through the open space. Well, maybe the pickup worker works there. Because there have been pickups there. Nope, he drives through as well. Good grief people. A simple rule of the road if it has roadblocks, that means stay out!

I don’t know why it surprised me this morning, I see so many ignoring road rules everyday. I think drivers need to go back and relearn left hand turns which is a major one they do wrong. I don’t know how many times I have been almost hit because they cut into my side of the road. Another one is the use of blinkers, that one seems to not exist in the drivers mind.

We live on a really busy road that leads to a grade school. I will slow down and use my blinker to let the driver know I am turning into my driveway. I can not believe how many do not pay attention and who are on my tail end! It’s like buddy get off my bumper!!!! I have properly showed you I am turning.

Our city is also a hands free cellphone area. They ignore that law too. I see so many looking down at a phone or have it up to their ear. And now we have car makers putting WiFi in cars! What the heck for? I thought we were suppose to be trying to get away from cellphone use while driving. Shaking my head. Hubby and I saw one person using his laptop while driving one day. Yep he was all over the road!

We are hoping to buy a new car when the pickup is paid off, but I don’t want all that computer crap in it. And I love technology, but when I get in a car it is to drive and pay attention to my surroundings. 🙂

I guess my point of this rant is, why do people think breaking minor laws is ok? Laws are there to help protect. Sure makes it difficult to teach your own kids to follow the laws, but I will keep doing it.

On that note, I did get me an early morning Pepsi to calm my nerves. Ok, it may not do that but sure is comfort. 🙂

Check This Book Out!

To Kill A Warlock

 

 

I finished reading this book today. It was entertaining and well written. It is about magical creatures and murders. A fairy policewoman is the main character and she sets out to find who murdered a few people while at the same time the murderer is after her. She entangles a few love interests along the way. It is funny and well written. I will be reading the next book.

Peaceful Swinging

My swing is up! Thanks to hubby! I have had that swing for years. Originally was going to hang it at the Puzzle House but since we are not there as often I brought it here. We have the perfect porch for it. I wanted a privacy wall though because the neighbor’s kitchen table is right there. I felt like I was spying on them. Or maybe that I felt like they were spying on me. 🙂

I need to paint the privacy wall. We are changing the porch railings to a grey. I have yet to decide to paint it grey too or come up with something unique and pretty.

It is nice to go outside and relax!

Hubby is going to put up another privacy wall on the end there as well. Eventually, we are putting up a fence and don’t want anyone jumping into the backyard from the porch. 🙂

I am getting a little writing done on my second book. Not as much as I would like but at least I am writing. The Creative Cave has cooled down with the cooler weather. I think I write better when it is cool. Basements are good for that. 🙂 Perfect spot for the cave!

I did not get around to posting my Halloween decorations so I will post those and the Thanksgiving one. I don’t like to skip Thanksgiving, too many pretty colors and we should be thankful for all that we have. 😉 I didn’t decorate much outside so no photos there. Hopefully, next year add to decorations for outside.

Love having a fireplace to decorate! 🙂 The cats only attempt once in a while to get the decorations. They don’t like the water bottle! Or me clapping my hands loud! It is kind of fun. 🙂
