The Data Zone

I love data, numbers, stats, etc. Anything that contains numbers. Perhaps that is why I stayed working as a bookkeeper for almost seventeen years. Or it could have been the lovely friendships I developed with my co-workers.  🙂 Miss them lots.

If I could have my choice of a paying job it would be data entry. Note I put paying job! 🙂  Writing is my fun, creative, non-paying job. 🙂  Perhaps it will pay nicely someday. I do write some for pay but the assignments are few and nothing I could live off.

But it does help buy a few books! 🙂

My love for data began in my early twenties when I landed a temporary job inputting soil data for an agriculture company. Long numbers of data! I’m weird but it was fun. The co-workers and owners were awesome! The best ever Christmas party was by them out of all of my jobs thus far.

A dinner theatre! It was a Neil Simon’s play, Barefoot in The Park!

Loved it! The juicy steak for the meal was the icing on the cake!

It was sad when the temp job came to an end.

I almost changed my major in college from Pre-Architecture/Interior Design to Statistics. I like math, I just don’t love it enough to study it mainly. I got to have my art!

Have you always wanted your original career or job?

I am a writer and an artist, at least in my mind. :) I love to read!

  1. I’ve wanted to be a teacher since I was 6 and a writer since I was 10. I started babysitting and then got a job at a preschool. At the age of 22, I’m still teaching (as well as the director of my church’s sunday school program) and even though the writing doesn’t pay (yet 😉 ), I’m still writing and getting closer to that dream each day.
It’s a wonderful feeling to be living the dream. 🙂

    1. That is terrific! You have a great personality and outlook! I believe you will accomplish the writing in big ways! It takes a special person to teach. I could not do that, I can not explain at all. LOL

      1. Thanks! Lol, I teach preschool so that makes it a bit easier. I don’t need to know any big, fancy math problems or anything. Just need to be able to count up to 20. 😉

  2. I can so relate to that! I love my medical research and all the stuff like clinical trial data that come with it, but I need my art, as well! It’s good you’re sticking to art and design, too.
