I was curious about what is an acoustic electric guitar? I mean I had never looked up exactly what it was. I hear the words and see the ads but never fully understood.

An acoustic electric guitar is a guitar fitted with electrical pickups that require a preamplifier within the body of the guitar to increase the signal before it hits the guitar amplifier. These preamps may have tone controls but normally an equalizer with up to six frequency bands. Thanks Wikipedia.  🙂

My interpretation is:  Basically, an acoustic guitar sound and add the electric to beef up the volume!   🙂
