Desks Are A Must

I am constantly rearranging my workspace in the Creative Cave. It seems I figure out what works and doesn’t work, or could it be I get bored with the layout.

πŸ™‚

I decided my old desk was not working for my creative inspiration.

I love the desk but it was blocking areas that could be used for more stuff. You know that crafting stuff that sits and never gets used.

πŸ™‚

I did not get rid of it, the youngest son is using it in the other room for his computer. Works good for him. Lots of room for his snacks which he ignores to take upstairs when we tell him to. Grumble.

I am very thankful that my hubby is handy with making things for me. I am constantly finding something for him to do for me. Sometimes he jumps right on it and other times he does that selective hearing you know.

πŸ™‚

Glad to say this time he got right to my request of building me a simple desk area.

πŸ™‚

Loving it!

I wanted to add some flare to it, so this is what I came up with.

I used the same duck tape that I used on my art table. It also covered up the screws that were used to put it together.

πŸ™‚

I have been using the desk for a few weeks now and I do believe I have accomplished more. It has lots more room to clutter up anyway.

πŸ™‚

It also gave the room a wide open area in the middle so I don’t feel closed in. Perhaps, I will do some exercising there. Perhaps….

πŸ™‚

Hubby gives me a hard time by saying I have the whole basement practically besides his man cave. Yep, pretty true. LOL

Eventually, stuff will be whittled down and then I won’t have so many areas. Technically, I have three creative caves.

You snooze you lose I tell him.

Do you have a woman cave or man cave?

Paint Away

I have lived in several homes that were all white or all tan, and they were ok, but I prefer color. My youngest son thinks my decorating style is strange. Well, kiddo I like it strange. Color is cheerful. πŸ™‚

Here are a few of the many paint samples I have chosen over the last couple decades. I like color.Β  I have definitely painted my share of walls. I have more to paint but keep stalling. I am getting tired of painting walls. πŸ™‚

Pineapple = Dining Room(yellow)
Leaping Water = bathroom trim (light sea green?)
Gargoyle = outside projects (grey)
Chicago Sky = basement main room(blue)
Antarctic Ice = laundry room and guest room (light tan/white)
Edge of Night = my creative cave top half of walls (light grey)
Pledge of Allegiance = my creative cave bottom half of walls (medium purple)
Aztec Rouge = kitchen at our Puzzle House in my hometown (red-brown)
Flirtation = kitchen at our Puzzle House in my hometown (blue)

Here are a few examples.

Bottom = Pledge of Allegiance

I think the most difficult color to paint is red! We painted our hallway a deep red with white trim at our other house and it looks elegant but boy the paint can show brush strokes and such. I think I will stick to accents of red. πŸ™‚

I love the names they give paint. While I look for the color I want, the name tends to pull me to the shade of color. Do you know the names of your walls?

Dimension of Color

I used a recycled piece of wood from hubby’s scrap pile. I sanded it and painted it with acrylic paint.

I colored the color page out of a book I have. I cut up into shapes.

The fun part was doing the quilling decorations. I am new at the quilling process. I love it. I hope to make many more with the quilling design. πŸ™‚

I added the hanging bead work to the wood.

It is proudly hung on my living room wall. πŸ™‚

Art Eases The Stress

Transform 2

I have been playing in Illustrator the last few hours. I learned a bit more about the Transform Tool. Pretty cool. Mine didn’t turn out like the video but isn’t that what art is about, creating your own flare. πŸ™‚ LOL

Transform Geometric 1

I love playing with colors and gradients. My main love in High School was coloring geometric designs. Still love to color them but Illustrator is even more fun. πŸ™‚

Have an awesome weekend everyone! Praying for all those in the hurricane areas and the fire areas. Wish the stuff wouldn’t happen. Hugs to all!

Day 4 in the #thedailymarker30day challenge! I’m rather enjoying the coloring. πŸ˜‰Β  Perhaps this will be another background for a photo. πŸ™‚ I have always enjoyed drawing shapes.

The meal I cook ends up a disaster. 😦  I get so excited to cook something different and then it doesn’t turn out to be like the perfect picture from the recipe. I do wing a lot of ingredients at times, so I tend to set myself up. lol

My family eats said meal I make a disaster of anyway. πŸ™‚ Of course, it comes with several jokes. Don’t tell them that I actually enjoy the jokes. πŸ™‚Β  I always reply with just wait til you begin cooking and invite me over, payback. πŸ˜‰

Any cooking disasters you’d like to tell?

Day 3 for the coloring challenge! I think this will be another photo background for an album. πŸ™‚ #thedailymarker30day

I used Bic markers, yoobi color pencils, and fine tip Lepen markers that I bought at a book store. πŸ™‚

When I file something in a good place, then find out it’s not there. 😦 I swear I have fairies that steal all my paperwork and things. πŸ™‚ lol What do they say, the mind is the first thing to go? πŸ™‚

Eliminating the clutter!!!! πŸ™‚ Gives me the warm fuzzies! Whether it be paperwork or things piling up in the corner. πŸ™‚ I will NOT be a hoarder. lol

What gives you the warm fuzzies?

A – and A + + Art Day 2

tielia-and-i-1980Β Day 2 Challenge.

This is my best friend from grade school and high school. πŸ™‚ It is her birthday today! We were in 4th grade here. I’m the one without the hat. πŸ™‚ Seems like yesterday. lolΒ  I did the background on yellow cardstock and then used Bic markers to do the designs on the background. I love doodling. I posted this on her Facebook. πŸ™‚ We don’t see each other much nowadays, drifted apart, but we do still talk and care about each other. Great friend, fun friend. πŸ™‚

I dislike when someone takes the last bit of ice cream and leaves the container in the fridge. A certain young son of mine. lolΒ  Of course, I think there is still ice cream until I go to get some and it is empty. πŸ™‚

Watching when your child succeeds at something, no matter how small of an achievement. Love the smile on their faces. πŸ™‚

What is your – and + of life?

A – and A + + Art Day 1

img_20170301_164107_116Β Day 1, note card.

I’m participating in an art challenge this month. Coloring. My art looks pretty simple compared to the other ladies on the site. They have some awesome stuff. I went simple because this will be sent to a LetterMo pen pal. I will write on the other side. LetterMo was last month but I like to reply as long as they send me letters. #thedailymarker30day

People who drive on other’s grass or park on it. I see this everyday picking up my son from school. Drives me nuts. It isn’t just a little bit of the tires. They completely drive on it and turn etc. Then they cause a mess with traffic trying to enter the ongoing traffic. My grandparents taught me to not even walk on someone else’s yard let alone drive. Shaking my head.

It’s March 1st, sunny and warmer than normal! πŸ™‚ Spring is around the corner. I bought a tulip plant the other day because this weather is giving me Spring fever. πŸ™‚ It is sitting on my window ledge in the Creative Cave! πŸ™‚

What do you think about the – and + for the day?

How’s Your Year?

valentine-4(created by Me! πŸ™‚ Forget the year)

It hasn’t been terrible but hasn’t been good either. Mostly, little things that are stressful. Kids not minding, money issues, things breaking, etc. You get the drift. I guess ifΒ fate gets all these out-of-the-way these first few months and then smooth sailing the rest of the year than that will be great. πŸ™‚ Time will tell.

We sure have not had much winter time. I hope that doesn’t mean it will be a late winter when spring is supposed to hit. We have had cool temperatures just not the white stuff. πŸ™‚ Glad for hardly any below zero temps. I think we had one week of that and that was enough. πŸ™‚

Thanks to my stress level I haven’t achieved much of what I set out to do this year. But it is early. I hate being unproductive, gets me in a mood of depression. Not severe just down.

One good thing, I started back at the YMCA. A few times the boys have went with me which is fun. πŸ™‚ They like lifting weights.

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day tomorrow. It is my favorite holiday. I love hearts and all things about it. No, you don’t have to have a certain someone to enjoy the holiday. πŸ™‚ I still loved it when I was single. Hubby will be on the road so he gave me three roses this weekend and we grilled with the boys. πŸ™‚ I think we have had more Valentine’s away than together during our whole time together. At least with technology one can still feel like they are there. I will send him a snapchat tomorrow. πŸ™‚ I do miss a tiny bit making Valentine’s for my kids’ classrooms. We made ours most of the time, except when we procrastinated and had to buy them. LOLΒ  πŸ™‚

valentines-2012(Here is one I made when the boys’ had to make them. I did it in Illustrator. πŸ™‚ )

Have a great day tomorrow! And the rest of the week, year etc! πŸ™‚

Video Producer I Am Not

Who out there loves making videos?

While I don’t mind taking them of others I hate myself being in one. I feel like I look like a dork. I suppose until I get use it that will be my opinion of myself. LOL.

I’m not sure I like Instagram having the short video. I mean isn’t that what SnapChat is for.Β  πŸ™‚ The only thing I use SnapChat for is to send short videos to my kids. I seriously have maybe 4 followers. I don’t like using SnapChat for business stuff. I think it is too short. Plus, I think leaving it for fun and not for businesses. I don’t ever click on the business stuff they put on my SnapChat.

I can understandΒ  Instagram being used for businesses because of taking the photos of products you sell. But don’t get the SnapChat one for businesses.

I decided to play around with my computer camera. I discovered some neat features that might make things more interesting once in a while on my social media platforms. Hopefully, you can view this video, if not go to my Facebook Page.

Lots to learn. I am no actress for sure. My voice sounds so weird. πŸ™‚

The big rage is videos! I just don’t want to be the star of them. LOL Β πŸ™‚

What doΒ you think?
