Some things are getting easier!

Wearing jeans are getting easier, thank goodness. I love jeans. I’m a jean and t-shirt lady, it’s what I wore everyday before the stroke. I have 2 pairs, and another pair that fits but I didn’t realize it is the skinny jean kind. Fits but difficult to pull up and down with one arm mostly. So later I will wear them. ๐Ÿ™‚

Summer time was even worse because I would be sweating and well that makes pants difficult. lol So, I mostly wore shorts which I do like. This year wasn’t as bad with being cold, back to my normal temperature, so shorts were the best. The first year of my stroke, I was so cold all time, perhaps due to circulation?

Even in the heat. I covered up with blankets a lot of the time and didn’t want the A/C on. But this year was more normal for me, yay, and everyone else. lol

The daughter bought several sweatpants and leggings so that was a great help. She said, I love to shop so let me spend it on you.

AH. It took a load off our minds.

But glad to say they are getting a little tight. Gaining back my weight. Was 190, then the stroke took me down to 150, and then my teeth problems I went to 120, I hadn’t been that small since early high school. Now I’m back to 150 the weight after my first kid and last kid. I gained all on my own glad to be back in the middle.

Just need to be able to do exercises and weights to build up the muscle. Due time, right, patience.

I have weights in the basement, so it’s patiently waiting for me to use them. I should have been doing them on a regular basis then maybe I wouldn’t have been in this spot. Sadly, only used like once a week here and there, thought my running around was a enough. Nope.

I went from being outside, volleyball, dance team, golf, and softball so regular movement. My 20s working several jobs, then chasing two young ones, and constantly activities with friends and family. My 30s two more kids and two teenagers working full time job and part time job. My 40s two boys active and two adult kids, chasing them but didn’t work, only at home and not really having friends other than the computer. I should have filled my extra time with exercise 3 times a week, think that would have helped.

So, people stay active! Don’t think just running around does the trick.

Eating healthy just isn’t enough. My heart is in good health, not the problem, veins are good, not the problem, BLOOD PRESSURE is what gave me the stroke.

Basically move, eat healthy, sleep 8 hours, and drink water.

I’m not the best at eating since I lost my teeth but we sure are trying. Fake teeth are getting better but I tend to eat more with the gums. Soft food which has changed my food habits. Still eat hamburgers but smaller and less toppings. Still drink a pop but greatly downsized and some days not at all. I’ve grown to love oatmeal, a few veggies than before and liking some fizzy drinks instead of pop. Good things have changed me not just the bad. ๐Ÿ™‚

Rearranging The Book Library AGAIN

My bookshelves have been moved so many times. But I do believe this is the last time. I like it here and I’m going to add more shelves and make it be a library. The shelves don’t match but I will use what I have. It was too dark in the corner and little space. I have lots of Harlequin novels yet to move. The daughter helped with this. I’ll show when I have it done. Hopefully in a few weeks.

Hubby getting tired of constructing for me. Don’t blame him, lol.

I brought my TBR books downstairs in my big bag. Only have what I am reading in the bedroom. Cleaning and organizing. At least that part of me is coming back just have to have help. Hubby, daughter, and Jessup usually help, if I can talk them into it. ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s also a workout for my right stroke arm and walking.

Also, will have this room as exercising. There is already an arm and leg machine. I use it some. Once I get fully back to mostly normal move the treadmill will be back down there and my elliptical machine. I’m the only one that really uses the basement anymore. My two cats are down there, making some fun climbing stuff for them. ๐Ÿ™‚

What I had in my hometown house, puzzle house as I like to call it.

We are going to remove them and recycle them somewhere for something. He did a great job on them, good wood.

A little clearer. Jessup is now 21! Boy time flies.

This was my holder of books, got hubby and Jessup to take it off the wall and bring it to the ‘library’ to be used. I don’t know how yet. I do have more books to put back on it. Thinking?

I have all my college books on here, old desk. Thinking of getting rid of it. It was hubby’s when we met so lots of use. Thinking?

Can’t wait to get it out of our room, means I’m all better. ๐Ÿ™‚ But I will keep using it.

I can’t wait to get it out of the living room, though hubby might argue about this one. lol

Our making of the basement. We take a while, mostly money and time. ๐Ÿ™‚

The cubby hole, old office, the making of it. Those are the daughter’s cats when she lived here. My old lounge chair, miss it, cats peed on it. Sad face. Can see my shelves have been every part of this basement. lol

This would be cool to have. ? All shelves. Can dream.

Decorating

Very little. Just not into it anymore. Maybe give my decorations to the daughter. ?

I need to get rid of stuff. Too much stuff.

I liked it in my younger days, but my older age is no more.

I wish the color would show up in sharing, oh well.

Happy first day to Halloween! We have the granddaughter for the weekend, love her but I am tired for all weekends. Hopefully next summer I will be back to my old self again. Hope.

Have a great weekend!

picture purfect

She had to pose to send to her mom. lol

She loves to take pictures. Going to miss having her here every day but glad her mom will have her. I need my body back to handle her. lol I wish I could drive and take her places, like the park. We were at the store, and she was being nice and holding my hand, but would walk into me. lol Really doesn’t work well holding my right hand, stroke hand, getting better but my balance is still off. I wonder if this is how it is when we are kids learning to walk. lol

I miss driving, almost 2 years since I drove. Miss my independence. It is nice my hubby and kids help me but I was very independent before. I hope someday again. I do adjust but gets me sad.

Some Are Blooming

Zinnias are blooming, and by mistake. lol

We put some in pots to get them to bloom. ๐Ÿ™‚ Slowly

I forget, but one planter tipped over and that’s how we got the zinnias growing in the rocks. No other has bloomed, some the green leaves are there but no blooms.

We replanted the zinnias in separate pots, and they are slowly blooming on the back deck.

I think next year, cleaning up the rocks and plant there.

Dryer Burned Out

We have got a lot of use out of it but looks like a laundromat might be in the future. I could use a clothesline about now. I had one at the old house. I don’t mind them. We have steps to go down to get to the yard could be a problem. hmmm.

1st dryer, grandparents got one at an auction.

2nd dryer, a second hand one, used a laundromat mostly to get it done because it wasn’t that good of one. Two small kids in tow. lol

3rd , I bought brand new and was great. Until two kids and neighbor boy played hide n seek in it, still worked for while.

4th, grandma bought one as a wedding gift for us. Very good one.

5th, hubby and i bought one through the military card. Lots of use out of it. 4 kids and 2 adults and now grandkids. can’t complain.

6th, ??? wonder??? fix it if can be or hang dry for a while or new??? decisions

Flowerders

As my daughter use to call them. lol

Her daughter and I planted some today from seeds. Who knows if they will grow? lol

She loved doing it so that’s what counts. Hope some come up. They sure don’t put much in a packet. I was disappointed in the foxglove ones, so tiny and I don’t think but two were in there but again the granddaughter who is 3 was helping. She did great with watering. Loves to do that.

We planted in containers and out front, so they get the morning sun.

Planted Zinneas, foxgloves, hollyhocks, and something with a Lupine. They attract hummingbirds. Maybe.

This was in 2018. But I didn’t keep up with it.
This was on the deck in 2018. The 3 containers are what we planted the flowers in out front now.
This is where I want to put the containers beside if flowers grow, by the hummingbird feeder. The daughter planted the marigolds for me. I suck at that too. lol Rain makes them pretty.
This was the burn pit when we first did it. I should have kept up. I tried. Then found out it is crooked. lol And the city has a law against pits within 50 feet of a wood building so we decided to make it a flower place this year. We got rid of the tree because it was an apple tree and it is close to underground utilities that the original owners planted. We change things all the time when stuff doesn’t work out.

Fairy Garden

My son Shay, wife Cassie and grandson Jayce gave me this for Mother’s Day
This is another garden with fairy stuff. I have fairies, door, and a house with trees and such.

I have a few items on the porch but need to get a pot to decorate, so photos later. I love decorating with these. I’m not so good with flowers so fairy gardens are the next best thing. ๐Ÿ™‚ I have to put them in containers and such because the men will mow them over if I don’t. lol

I want to put fairies in one of my stories but need to think of it first. Ghosts and fairies are interesting to me. Things made up. Right now my mind is blank thanks to the stroke. So I am reading as much as I can to get the creative dreams going. I use to daydream all the time and my stories would come alive! I’m so anxious to get back to typing and handwriting with left and right hand. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve started a journal again thanks to my daughter of course more small words because my left hand is messy. But glad that I can write! Hopefully, I will remember what I meant by the shorthand. lol May make a funny story lol.

I was glad I wrote my first book before the stroke, but I put it away because I didn’t think it was good.

  1. Obeyville Snoop – I like it so that’s what made me happy. Published Sept 2021
  2. Snoop in Overdrive – not done, mind block, 10 chpters done for now
  3. no title and no idea last of the series.
actual book
this is the cover I designed when I had my software and was studying graphic design.

The stroke took a few things away, memory, thinking, money, etc

I will get it back! I want to.

New Office Space

I moved my creative space last summer. I thought it was good to because of remembering the stroke happened in there. I started organizing it because of more movement of my right hand. ๐Ÿ™‚ Feels good to be down in the basement again. Like I am doing something other than sitting watching TV. Plus I get to play with the cats! I text Jessup when I go down there and then when I go back up. Eases my hubby’s mind. It will take awhile to finish.

I will take pictures when it is finished. I also have a room for photos and puzzle putting together. It was my first office. And a sewing room and library which is the old office. The cats litter boxes are in there too.

So I have three spaces ๐Ÿ™‚

Hubby keeps griping because no window in my office. It doesn’t bother me. I had a job that had no window worked there for 20 years. Plus there is a window in the puzzle room so I can go in there when need to. ๐Ÿ™‚ And a bed to rest my back.

Zooooooooom, It’s Fall

I think I’m ready for Fall. I’m more a person who likes warm weather but Fall is pretty and it brings on the holidays. ๐Ÿ™‚ I would like a bit of a break from yard work, because I suck at growing flowers. LOL

I will keep trying.

There has to be a flower out there that is meant just for me to keep alive. ๐Ÿ™‚

My morning glories are finally blooming. I didn’t even plant that one this year, came up from last year’s soil. It is fairly thin of flowers though.ย  ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

I bought two things of mums and one is doing ok but the other is not. Sigh.

img_20180721_210835 I have done good with that purple flower thing there. I bought it in August after the extreme 100 degree weather we had. Forget what it is. I am too lazy to walk up there and look at the plant identifier thing in the soil. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, look I have metal flowers! My kind of flowers! Bloom all year-long.ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

Normally, when it cools down I tend to start the inside projects. I have been muddying and sanding some of the basement walls. I’m getting better! We are not finishing the whole basement just the living portion. There is a big area on the other end of the basement that we keep for storage.

The alcove there is now one of the son’s computer station. I even decorated the wall with his sport stuff. He said mom, why. Because I can and you should be proud. ๐Ÿ™‚ I found his kindergarten photo the teacher took on the first day of school. I had to hang that one!

img_20180902_140419 Hubby and I finished the flooring. I like it.ย  Didn’t do any where the storage area is though. We left that concrete.

Keeping with Fall, when I did the sanding on the one wall this showed up!

img_20180924_003554 Invisible spider webs! No maid I am. The drywall had been up for several years, just now muddying it. Yea that procrastination thing again. Amazing that I never saw the webs all the time walking by. I think maybe it should stay for Halloween…nope…it has been dusted and soon will have paint. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have not decorated yet for Fall or Halloween. I did pack away the more springy outdoor dรฉcor to make room for Fall/Halloween. Perhaps by next weekend it will all be done! My goal!

Do you decorate and how early? I’ve heard some have decorated for Christmas!ย
