Desks Are A Must

I am constantly rearranging my workspace in the Creative Cave. It seems I figure out what works and doesn’t work, or could it be I get bored with the layout.

🙂

I decided my old desk was not working for my creative inspiration.

I love the desk but it was blocking areas that could be used for more stuff. You know that crafting stuff that sits and never gets used.

🙂

I did not get rid of it, the youngest son is using it in the other room for his computer. Works good for him. Lots of room for his snacks which he ignores to take upstairs when we tell him to. Grumble.

I am very thankful that my hubby is handy with making things for me. I am constantly finding something for him to do for me. Sometimes he jumps right on it and other times he does that selective hearing you know.

🙂

Glad to say this time he got right to my request of building me a simple desk area.

🙂

Loving it!

I wanted to add some flare to it, so this is what I came up with.

I used the same duck tape that I used on my art table. It also covered up the screws that were used to put it together.

🙂

I have been using the desk for a few weeks now and I do believe I have accomplished more. It has lots more room to clutter up anyway.

🙂

It also gave the room a wide open area in the middle so I don’t feel closed in. Perhaps, I will do some exercising there. Perhaps….

🙂

Hubby gives me a hard time by saying I have the whole basement practically besides his man cave. Yep, pretty true. LOL

Eventually, stuff will be whittled down and then I won’t have so many areas. Technically, I have three creative caves.

You snooze you lose I tell him.

Do you have a woman cave or man cave?

Glue Mess Gets Duck Taped

Duck Tape the desk My own photo! 🙂

Courtesy of my cellphone and a new app I discovered, BeFunky App. Love it!

My hubby built me my very own Creative Cave in the basement. He also gave me his old table he used for building his big model airplanes. He had knocked over a bottle of strong glue onto the table last year. We tried lots of things to get it off but only accomplished most of it.

I pondered for months what I wanted to do to cover it up.

Duck Tape!

Throughout the year I had seen the square sheets in several stores and thought yes! We went to Menards tonight to get some other supplies for remodeling the basement and I caught a glimpse of these. I knew that was what I wanted to do. I bought only three sheets for now to see how it looked and what design I wanted to go with.

I like it! 😉

I will continue the pattern the rest of the way across the table. The sheets were 1.99 each. Cheap design idea plus no mess or smell. I like the bits of wood still in the areas I won’t cover up. I hope the corners will stay down if not I will find more duck tape! LOL 🙂

I like the feel of it too. It covered up a few splinter parts as well. It will be easier to clean than the wood since the wood is not stained or clear coated.

Sometimes one needs to ponder awhile. Me, it seems like it takes months! LOL

Hope you have a great weekend, I think we will! We are going to go to my hometown fair where our other home is at. 🙂

More work to do there. Sad thing is we have not made it back much this year so it is in major need of cleaning and work. 🙂 That is ok, we will get to have fun in the evening at the carnival. Home owned and operated by local volunteers. I hear they added two more rides! 🙂

I can not wait to have a funnel cake and a pork burger!!!!

Moving….makes me exhausted!

We purchased our new home!

Actually, it is our second home, we still have our first home in another town. It is currently being remodeled because it is only 100 years old. 🙂

Fun.

I call it our Puzzle House because it is two structures that were put together to form a home and then was added on several times. So much fun. I do love it. We say it is our family home because it is nice to escape to when we want to. 🙂

It is only four hours away. You could say it is our way of taking a trip only not to some fancy destination. The small town I grew up in is nice and I love that we can go home when we feel like it. It’s a way of holding on to some great memories and to still be able to experience small town living.

There are good things about living in a city and good things about living in a small town. I am very lucky to be able to have both. 🙂

To me that is a luxury worth more than any fancy vacation or vacation home. (But if I won the lottery I bet I could be persuaded to take a few vacations! LOL)

Eventually, we will live there again but not until it is finished and most likely way down the road. We are playing it year by year. There are more jobs here to choose from then the small town so that is why we are currently happy here. It is nice to have that choice. Plus, we got tired of living in a remodel. Did that for twelve years. Very stressful.

Back to the new home! This one is only 5 years old! So nice to live in a finished home! Though we wouldn’t be us if we didn’t find a home that we still need to do a bit of work on. The plus side of this one is it has a full unfinished basement but the basement could easily be left alone. It is a nice basement, not dark and dreary like some. It is wide open. Plans are to put two more bedrooms, a hobby room, a bathroom, a storage room, and then the rest is the open area for a family/game room. Yes, it is that big! I love that it has two big windows and not the normal basement windows. Again, if we don’t want to finish it we don’t need to. We want to concentrate on the Puzzle House for now.

The main living area is two levels. The boys have their own level with a bathroom and it has a open balcony that overlooks the living room. Pretty cool. One cat even decided to take a leap off it. Scared the crap out of me! Cat just fine. Curious if he will try that again. 🙂

The main floor has our bedroom suite, yes suite. Love it! The living, dining, and kitchen are all open to one another. Really like that. The laundry room is close to the garage. We have a yard that has real grass and some trees! If you knew what our grass was like at the Puzzle House you would understand. LOL….it is a luxury to have grass here. 🙂

I hope to be organized by next week so I can begin writing more and reading! I still have some things to move at the duplex and then the fun of cleaning really good.

It has been a long few months. I tell you the process of buying a house is the most stress ever! I better win the lottery if I ever want to buy another house. I’m not going through all that again. Mostly, because our first lender was not a good lender. Our second lender was the bomb! She did excellent! She was local so it pays to stay local when shopping!

I hope everyone is enjoying their Fall! Happy reading and writing!
