Paint Away

I have lived in several homes that were all white or all tan, and they were ok, but I prefer color. My youngest son thinks my decorating style is strange. Well, kiddo I like it strange. Color is cheerful. 🙂

Here are a few of the many paint samples I have chosen over the last couple decades. I like color.  I have definitely painted my share of walls. I have more to paint but keep stalling. I am getting tired of painting walls. 🙂

Pineapple = Dining Room(yellow)
Leaping Water = bathroom trim (light sea green?)
Gargoyle = outside projects (grey)
Chicago Sky = basement main room(blue)
Antarctic Ice = laundry room and guest room (light tan/white)
Edge of Night = my creative cave top half of walls (light grey)
Pledge of Allegiance = my creative cave bottom half of walls (medium purple)
Aztec Rouge = kitchen at our Puzzle House in my hometown (red-brown)
Flirtation = kitchen at our Puzzle House in my hometown (blue)

Here are a few examples.

I think the most difficult color to paint is red! We painted our hallway a deep red with white trim at our other house and it looks elegant but boy the paint can show brush strokes and such. I think I will stick to accents of red. 🙂

I love the names they give paint. While I look for the color I want, the name tends to pull me to the shade of color. Do you know the names of your walls?

Dimension of Color

I used a recycled piece of wood from hubby’s scrap pile. I sanded it and painted it with acrylic paint.

I colored the color page out of a book I have. I cut up into shapes.

The fun part was doing the quilling decorations. I am new at the quilling process. I love it. I hope to make many more with the quilling design. 🙂

I added the hanging bead work to the wood.

It is proudly hung on my living room wall. 🙂

Art Eases The Stress

Transform 2

I have been playing in Illustrator the last few hours. I learned a bit more about the Transform Tool. Pretty cool. Mine didn’t turn out like the video but isn’t that what art is about, creating your own flare. 🙂 LOL

Transform Geometric 1

I love playing with colors and gradients. My main love in High School was coloring geometric designs. Still love to color them but Illustrator is even more fun. 🙂

Have an awesome weekend everyone! Praying for all those in the hurricane areas and the fire areas. Wish the stuff wouldn’t happen. Hugs to all!

I Like Purses Like Some Like Shoes

15 - 1 My latest purse! 🙂

I tend to change my purse with the seasons. Someday, I hope to change more often. 😉

I decided to buy this one because it holds ALOT! I figured with beach and pool season coming up it won’t hurt to be on the ground since it was cheap. I bought it at the Big W on clearance for $9.00! 😉

I have a similar one that is white and black but it ended up finding all the dirt and showing it. I thought I better get one that will hide it better. I think I could probably wash it. There are only two separate pockets and then a big deep pocket where everything will make it’s home.

I have a book, wallet, and several journals. One is a sketchbook, writing notebook, and my calendar book. There is still room for my Nook! Heck I might even be able to fit some clothes! LOL

The straps are adjustable so I can lengthen them to wear like a messenger bag. I really like that. I liked the messenger bag I bought last year but it was limited for things. I really liked having it cross my body so it was not always falling off my shoulder. I hate when that happens.

The next on the list to purchase is a new wallet. I love the one I have but it is zebra white and black and is really getting dirty. Sigh. My son Jessup picked it out for me. 😉

I know I could eliminate the need for a big purse by going all electronic with the calendar, etc but I really like paper still. I like drawing and putting colors to it. I don’t think that will ever change. 🙂

I can’t forget the love of pens and markers! I can never have too many of those either. 🙂

What’s your style of purse?

When Inspiration Strikes

I was planted on the sofa when a bright light bulb went off.

I can use the leftover green from the entryway to put some color above the fireplace. 🙂

Yes! It will be like a frame for decorating for holidays. Someday I would like to change the tile on the fireplace to something more decorative but for now I like it.

I think it will look good. I have to do some touch up painting and then I will take a finished picture with decorations.

There is an outlet for a TV but I like using the mantel for decorating, mostly because the cats have not found a way to get up there, yet. 🙂

I am slowly repainting the rooms. We bought the house last Fall and as we look closer at the walls we see the previous people did not match the tan color just right so there are spots everywhere. Eventually, all the walls will need painted. Weird thing is, there are no holes that they patched, so our guess is there were marks and they couldn’t get them clean or didn’t try. Funny.

Well, it worked other than when you are sitting and staring at the wall the spots begin to show. 🙂 I do that a lot trying to decide how to decorate. I still do not have all our photos up. I’m a procrastinator. Big time. 🙂

My inspiration for the green came from painting the entryway.

I will do a finished picture when I finish the artwork for this area. 🙂 I have not decided on the color for the other parts of the walls. It will be a neutral color like the tan or I am thinking a classy grey.

I will plant my butt back on the couch and decide. 🙂

Till later, have a great day! 🙂

Thanks for dropping by!

Laundry…Bottomless Basket.

Laundry is never-ending it seems like. I do a little bit each day instead of all at once. It’s never the same day mostly because I tend to forget to do it. Ok, I stare at it and talk myself out of doing the laundry that day. So a schedule does not work for me.

We do have our middle school boys do their own so they will be prepared for move out day!  🙂 They do good other than the hang up part. The clothes tend to end up on the floor of their closet. Maybe because they know mom will eventually hang them up for them.  🙂

It drives me nuts to see clothes not hung up.

A little trivia:

  • 21% of indoor water usage is from laundry. (http://laundry.about.com)  Maybe that is why I pile the laundry in the least number of loads possible. 🙂
  • The average American family does 8-10 loads every week. (http://laundry.about.com) I can believe that one.

When we looked at our current home we loved the fact the laundry room was a separate room and that it was on the main level. Once we moved in hubby discovered the space was a tad bit small for our laundry set. He had to remove the trim to make them fit. It’s snug. 🙂

Further discover our dryer is on the left. Now, I may be wrong but isn’t the dryer always on the right? Strange and it has been fun adapting to. My routine of throwing the clothes from the washer to the dryer was out of sync for a while.  🙂

Laundry Blog (Our current set up. Hubby complains about the side shelves, he hits his head. I like them because I can hang the clothes on them to put away. )

I would say the construction builders goofed when building the house and didn’t want to correct it. I guess we will be unique.  🙂

What’s up with cats loving to crawl behind the machines? They are always knocking the dryer vent off.

I foresee a future project for hubby blocking their access with shelves. 🙂

Laundry-Room-Makeover-Camerasandchaos Possible ideas: I love this color!

If you look at the shelves that is something we will need to do to block access for the cats. Might have to make it where they can easily come apart for cleaning back behind, etc.

I don’t get the fancy light, too fancy for a laundry room.  🙂

Organized-Laundry-Room-GE-Adora- This would be my dream room but we don’t have the space for it here. But we do at our Puzzle House! So just maybe at that house.  🙂

Simple-small-laundry-room-with-Shelving-ideas-915x1372 Here is another shelf idea but would have to lower it and make it the width of the space from the wall to the machines. There is a good gap so the shelf would be plenty wide. Hubby didn’t push the machines clear back because it was very tight getting them in there. A shelf should work.

Oh, honey….I have a to do thing for you!  🙂
