Where Did October Go?

It’s a bit early in the morning but I really wanted to get a blog post out. I can’t believe I went almost all month without a post.

I even missed some posts that my daughter put on her blog. I did reblog them on here so please take a second to read them. She is a really good writer. Very creative. My daughter and granddaughter moved out last month.

I have had more time to write with the daughter and granddaughter not around, so I should have accomplished way more writing. Sigh. Procrastinating.

The last child in the family is a senior and unfortunately that has not been going well. He just isn’t feeling the school vibe with all the Covid guidelines. The school has been good though and they have let his many skips of school be excused. He is doing average work when he would be doing A-B work if the school year had ended normally and then begun normally. He shows a bit of depression. 😦

I feel for everyone that has had their life totally or mildly changed. It is so weird to think how life has changed this year. I am thankful all of us have been in good health and jobs have been decent. Slow at times but at least we have jobs.

I keep telling myself that I am not going to write anything about Covid since everyone is most likely tired of hearing about it but here I am. I don’t think it will ever go away. A virus is like a bad stain on your clothes, it can fade, but it’s not disappearing. At least, that’s my thoughts on it. I hope it will disappear. Will it?

The son has been quarantined once during the school year just out of caution. He didn’t go anywhere and was good about staying “6 feet” away from us. His niece didn’t understand why uncle would not pick her up. So then he would run around and she thought it was a game of chase. LOL He never had symptoms so we didn’t get him tested. He went back to school after the 14 days and 16 days for work.

I am keeping plenty of vitamin C around for everyone. Hubby and I are taking vitamin D because we both have had blood tests in the past that showed low. Mostly, just making sure our immune systems are in shape. We do that as much as we can every flu season. I think now it will be all year every year. I hope the four kids will keep their immune systems in good shape. I can at least nag them. 🙂

Sadly, this has prevented the oldest son, his wife, and son from being able to come visit. He is in the Navy and they keep denying him leave. He sounds like he needs a break. Of course, we miss them a lot. It has been over a year since we saw them.

The daughter and granddaughter are only a few hours away so we have seen them several times since they moved. Yay! 🙂

The 2020 graduate son is living with us. His plans are a bit on hold. I mean with the unknown of what the state government could do any day, it is better to stay with us. At least he has a roof over his head and food in his tummy. I’m sure he would rather be having adult life with his friends and not held up in his parents’ house. LOL 🙂 He is pondering joining the military just like his brother and sister. I’m not sure about that but it is his choice. 😦

The current senior has decided to graduate early in January, thanks to all the unsocial fun in school now. I have even heard him say maybe he will wait on college. I never thought I would hear that from him.

I think college is good if you really want it. I also think working a few years after high school is ok as well. I like the trade school option too. As you can see we have two already in the military. One joined during her senior year and then she went to school. She is in the Army Reserves and doing well. She has her Associates and a Bachelor’s Degree. The oldest son went a year of college, hated it. Worked for a few years and decided he wanted to do join the Navy. He got into the Nuclear Program, very intense school and made it through. Now, the third son is thinking Marines. I guess we might just have a kid in every branch. LOL The fourth child really wants college, or at least before all this ‘new normal’ happened. Time will tell.

I don’t know what I will do when they are all out of the house. Might start talking to the cats….wait, I already do that. 🙂

Have a great Halloween weekend!

Lots of Changes

The senior son had his first full of week of school. It went well, no issues. It sucks though because he has to wear a mask there and then the days he goes to work. Makes for long days of covering the mouth. I’ve been getting him good drinks to make up for the fruits and veggies he won’t eat. Sigh. Hopefully, he will change that on his own because the other two older kids did. They like more veggies than I do.

I think I’m the bad influence.

I grew up eating simple veggies. My grandma was a cook for the old folks home and a school. We had all homemade food but it was simple and no seasonings. I liked it. I didn’t eat many veggies other than the basics but I was a fruit eater. I reached for fruit back then instead of junk food. Now, I tend to like the candy bars and other convenience items.

Bad mom.

It is sad that the school has to provide more bag lunch meals though. So he has been coming home to eat or eating out with his friends. I understand why they have to with guidelines. I would rather him be able to go to school.

The son that graduated or rather e-graduated lives with us, at least until the world is back to normal. I hope. We got him a new cellphone for his birthday and I am so over this closed store thing. We had to order through the phone and online. It also happened when the senior son’s phone completely broke and we needed to get him a new phone. I hate that, we miss our friendly store employee that always helps us. 🙂 The phone person was very nice but it just isn’t the same. The website was having problems as well. Just want the store completely open. Then they didn’t have the phone in stock so we couldn’t pick it up and now is being mailed.

Just one thing after another. It is easier to go to the store. I hope no other phones have issues for awhile. I swear the phones break when they are done being paid on. I usually get another year out of mine, as long as I don’t drop it. 🙂 I am going to go for hopefully a few years. I swear at times I would rather have a non-smartphone. Less distraction? I prefer using the internet on my computer and not the phone. I have a bad habit anymore checking my phone just because. Crazy. I need to keep my hands busy I guess. LOL

I hope everyone had a good last week! Sounds like some areas might get SNOW next week. WOW!

My Shopping Is Changing

I don’t really shop a lot but it definitely has changed this year thanks to wearing the mask. I don’t like them. I swear I sweat and itch too much. I try that don’t think about it but it doesn’t work. So, no more grocery shopping but a week to every two weeks. I’m not an online shopper but now may have to do some that way. I do go through drive thrus a lot for food. I hope to go to the movies once new ones come out because I feel like this is going to ruin their business. 😦 I don’t have to wear it while watching because I can’t go without popcorn and a pop! 🙂

If anything, I should save money! Which that will be a great thing! 🙂 Just hope things go back to normal.

I feel sorry for the kids going to school. I do believe they need to, so mask it is. I have one left and he has been working all this time so he should be ok wearing the mask. But then again, he is a teenager. LOL I just see no fun going. I guess welcome to him on early adult life! Life isn’t always fun. LOL

I hope everyone stays healthy! 🙂

Back…I think

I have no excuse for not blogging other than not doing it. 🙂 I did let my site go back to the free version, so I had to redesign it. I like the new design. I see there are some new features if a paying account. I will ponder that for awhile if I finish the year strong. 🙂

I still miss the check spelling and english button. 😦

The son did graduate in May. The school only did an online ceremony which was good but I think they could have done a regular ceremony after seeing several friends’ kids having one. 😦 Now, we have another senior and so hope he gets one. He was going to do the online learning until they showed what classes were offered. He was disappointed but switched to going to the school. He doesn’t fear the virus because he has been working the whole time other than a month and they take his temperature every time, but he had hoped for the online since it sounds like little socializing at school. 😦

I still do not know anyone who has had it. I hope it stays that way. 🙂

The son that graduated stayed with his job until about June and then quit because there was a kid he worked mainly with that was not nice to him. He wished he wasn’t like that because he misses the job a bit. Maybe things worked out because his car has quit and would have been difficult to get him to the job because it was 30 minutes away. He has been helping me out and chilling until hopefully this virus slows down and then find a job. He gets anxiety with wearing the mask. He has allergies so sneezes a lot which isn’t a good thing right now. LOL He won’t take any medicine. Which is good because he doesn’t like pills but yet he would feel better if he did, perhaps. LOL

I have been busy watching the granddaughter when the daughter goes to work. I forget how much a toddler wears me out. I just don’t have the energy now to do it ALL. LOL I am amazed how I did it in my 20s and 30s. 🙂 The daughter has met a very nice man who I think may be the one! He is really nice and polite. Win Win. 🙂

Hubby is still truck driving but definitely is counting down the days to retire, 2 years! 🙂 I’m counting the days as well. Ready for him to be home all the time! 🙂

Our 3 1/2 year old refrigerator broke this week. Sucks. So we got to decide on a new one. Just sucks that it has to go to the appliance graveyard. We all liked it. 🙂 It was a challenge this week with me watching the granddaughter 24/7 since her mom had her Army AT. Both boys helped a lot with trying to figure out the problem and cleaning out all the WASTED food! 😦 Needless to say we ate out a lot but we do more than normal now since this virus has showed it’s ugly face. We do have our old fridge downstairs and the repairman got it to not leak anymore. Yay! But the hubby and son said no way they are hauling it upstairs again! LOL It is heavy and the stairs are not straight up, they are a challenge. We do like having that one down there for drinks and over flow of food. 🙂

We haven’t done anything this summer since the virus. We really missed not being able to see the oldest son and his family in May. He says he may get to come here for Christmas. Cross fingers! 🙂

I hope everyone is healthy! Have a good weekend!
