Pondering Thoughts

I’m sitting at the library parking lot waiting on middle son from school. Clouds are looking rather like winter. Not sure I’m ready for that.

I like winter but not the road mess and bitter temps. A nice snowfall is pretty. Just hate the messy streets. I’m hoping hubby can make it through the mountains safely, truck driver. Sounds like they will be wintery. Still shaking my head for him wanting to truck drive after military retirement. 🙂

Earlier in the day I began editing my book. I went to print after I was done and looks like the printer has decided to die a slow broken ink death. I’m going to try one more cleaning and maybe order a cheap black ink before I let it go. I can’t complain it has lasted us about twelve years and was about hundred dollars. I sure will miss it. Of course, I don’t want to have to get use to a new one. Sigh.

I got home and did the cleaning on the printer and it worked. I hope to baby it along until after Christmas. Small budget so got to do what I got to do. 🙂

I posted another chapter that I edited. Sorry for the wait. Last week was more about getting ready for the youngest son’s sleepover birthday celebration. One would think at his age he would be done with that. lol It went rather well. Good kids. They had fun. They even went outside and played hide in the dark tag. LOL. Glad kids will still play those fun games. I recall dark time was the fun time to do them. 🙂

Later that evening I took them to the movie Hacksaw Ridge. Hubby was too tired so he stayed home. I think he didn’t want to put up with five teenagers. lol. Anyway, the movie was really good. A few laughs and definitely sad moments. One I will watch again, but wait until video.

It is expensive to go to the movies.

We might average one a month if we are lucky. We rent mostly. Of course, the boys picked the very front row! Well, it wasn’t too bad because the theatre is small and it has the rounded screen, so it seemed almost like you were right there. I guess we were right there. LOL Good times.

A Bit Annoyed

I don’t keep my payment method saved in WordPress because I really hate automatic renewals. Half the time the companies put the payment through before it is due which to me is wrong when I have a budget I follow. I don’t mind a couple days but I have had companies do a week to two weeks early. Upsets me. 😦

I went to look at my blog on my computer this weekend and there was a blackened screen with a reminder that my WordPress premium was due in about ten days. Yes, I know, I got the email and have it saved and figured into my budget for the weekend before it is due.

I tried to dismiss it with the X and it would not go away. So I found the chat button to talk to support. They tried to say it was a problem with Explorer. Nope, it did it again with FireFox. Understand they are just trying to keep your site from expiring but it was wrong to block me from seeing my blog. I could move around the editing stuff but I like to look how my blog looks, plus I tend to use it more to reply to people.

I could see the blog on my phone but I like using the computer for writing and replying. To me WordPress doing this was denying me my already paid time for my blog. Heck, maybe I didn’t want to renew and you pretty much short changed me a week of my paid time. They are lucky that I like WordPress and don’t quit the premium part. 🙂

I had to rant. Hope your day is going good! 🙂

Anyone else have issues with companies that do that automatic payment? I don’t even like saving the payment info. I prefer to input it every time it is due. 🙂

Writing Challenges

My first NaNoWriMo challenge was November 2012. It was the first official beginning of my book #1 – Obeyville Snoop. I accomplished 5,510 words. My creative mind was not appearing for the challenge. I did have fun beginning the book, but lacked the discipline to write every day. I had post-it notes, apps on my phone, and to do lists reminding me to write but it didn’t help. I set the draft aside.

Then I saw Camp NaNoWriMo pop up in an email for April 2013! I had to do it. I could not resist. I went top speed on the first book again. The words flowed. I won with 50,219 words! Yay! It felt wonderful! I read afterwards what I wrote and couldn’t stop laughing. Nothing fit together. Definitely, a first draft!

Feeling inspired I signed up for July 2013 camp and began the second book in the series “Snoop In Overdrive.” Didn’t go well. Zilch!

Signed up for November 2013. Zilch again on book #2.

April 2014 rolls around, sign book#2 up and wrote 10,095 with a goal of 30,000 words. Thought maybe shorter novels would be better for me.

November 2014 I signed up book #2 again. Didn’t add any words. In fact, I tried revising first what I had written. Bad thing to do. Needed to finish it first.

Seems like the November challenges are not good for me. No creative spark. Maybe my mind is more interested in the holidays.

I skipped April 2015 but decided to do July 2015 with Book #1 revisions. I had already chopped so much out of Book #1 over the last year that the goal was now 25,000 words. Yep, short novels might be better for me. I revised a second time only 7,262 words.

Signed up again November 2015 with book #2. Zilch. I can’t stop signing up! LOL. It is like a habit now. Need the writing to be a habit. 🙂 We will see about this year. Maybe this will be where I finally stop signing up during November. LOL

I signed up for this April’s camp! It is going SOOO GOOD!!!!

I have officially revised everything I had cut long ago in Book #1. I am at 22,104 words with a 25,000 word goal! I feel great! Now comes adding the last 2,896 words from scratch. Which I am OK with because the book needed a different ending. I think I have been so hung up on that part and is why I never finish.

Lots of thinking and writing tonight!

The book will need a final complete revision but not because of the plot this time. The BONES are there! Finally!

Kudos to all you authors that can write several novels in a year. Maybe in the future for me but I don’t think this decade! LOL I’ll be tickled pink to finish this series of three books!

Maybe by 2018! 🙂

If all goes well, I hope to have Book #1 self published this summer and dive into Book #2 in July! Fingers crossed! I feel the writing muse is around me.
