Pondering Thoughts

I’m sitting at the library parking lot waiting on middle son from school. Clouds are looking rather like winter. Not sure I’m ready for that.

I like winter but not the road mess and bitter temps. A nice snowfall is pretty. Just hate the messy streets. I’m hoping hubby can make it through the mountains safely, truck driver. Sounds like they will be wintery. Still shaking my head for him wanting to truck drive after military retirement. 🙂

Earlier in the day I began editing my book. I went to print after I was done and looks like the printer has decided to die a slow broken ink death. I’m going to try one more cleaning and maybe order a cheap black ink before I let it go. I can’t complain it has lasted us about twelve years and was about hundred dollars. I sure will miss it. Of course, I don’t want to have to get use to a new one. Sigh.

notafraidfirstdrafts(credit to Bing.com. Or 20 first drafts. LOL )

I got home and did the cleaning on the printer and it worked. I hope to baby it along until after Christmas. Small budget so got to do what I got to do. 🙂

I posted another chapter that I edited. Sorry for the wait. Last week was more about getting ready for the youngest son’s sleepover birthday celebration. One would think at his age he would be done with that. lol It went rather well. Good kids. They had fun. They even went outside and played hide in the dark tag. LOL. Glad kids will still play those fun games. I recall dark time was the fun time to do them. 🙂

Later that evening I took them to the movie Hacksaw Ridge. Hubby was too tired so he stayed home. I think he didn’t want to put up with five teenagers. lol. Anyway, the movie was really good. A few laughs and definitely sad moments. One I will watch again, but wait until video.

It is expensive to go to the movies.

We might average one a month if we are lucky. We rent mostly. Of course, the boys picked the very front row! Well, it wasn’t too bad because the theatre is small and it has the rounded screen, so it seemed almost like you were right there. I guess we were right there. LOL Good times.

Have a great evening! Stay warm or stay cool, whichever. We are currently in between. 🙂

A Bit Annoyed

royalty-free-writing-clipart-illustration-227148(found on Bing.com images)

I don’t keep my payment method saved in WordPress because I really hate automatic renewals. Half the time the companies put the payment through before it is due which to me is wrong when I have a budget I follow. I don’t mind a couple days but I have had companies do a week to two weeks early. Upsets me. 😦

I went to look at my blog on my computer this weekend and there was a blackened screen with a reminder that my WordPress premium was due in about ten days. Yes, I know, I got the email and have it saved and figured into my budget for the weekend before it is due.

I tried to dismiss it with the X and it would not go away. So I found the chat button to talk to support. They tried to say it was a problem with Explorer. Nope, it did it again with FireFox. Understand they are just trying to keep your site from expiring but it was wrong to block me from seeing my blog. I could move around the editing stuff but I like to look how my blog looks, plus I tend to use it more to reply to people.

I could see the blog on my phone but I like using the computer for writing and replying. To me WordPress doing this was denying me my already paid time for my blog. Heck, maybe I didn’t want to renew and you pretty much short changed me a week of my paid time. They are lucky that I like WordPress and don’t quit the premium part. 🙂

I had to rant. Hope your day is going good! 🙂

Anyone else have issues with companies that do that automatic payment? I don’t even like saving the payment info. I prefer to input it every time it is due. 🙂

Writing Challenges

My first NaNoWriMo challenge was November 2012. It was the first official beginning of my book #1 – Obeyville Snoop. I accomplished 5,510 words. My creative mind was not appearing for the challenge. I did have fun beginning the book, but lacked the discipline to write every day. I had post-it notes, apps on my phone, and to do lists reminding me to write but it didn’t help. I set the draft aside.

Then I saw Camp NaNoWriMo pop up in an email for April 2013! I had to do it. I could not resist. I went top speed on the first book again. The words flowed. I won with 50,219 words! Yay! It felt wonderful! I read afterwards what I wrote and couldn’t stop laughing. Nothing fit together. Definitely, a first draft!

Feeling inspired I signed up for July 2013 camp and began the second book in the series “Snoop In Overdrive.” Didn’t go well. Zilch!

Signed up for November 2013. Zilch again on book #2.

April 2014 rolls around, sign book#2 up and wrote 10,095 with a goal of 30,000 words. Thought maybe shorter novels would be better for me.

November 2014 I signed up book #2 again. Didn’t add any words. In fact, I tried revising first what I had written. Bad thing to do. Needed to finish it first.

Seems like the November challenges are not good for me. No creative spark. Maybe my mind is more interested in the holidays.

I skipped April 2015 but decided to do July 2015 with Book #1 revisions. I had already chopped so much out of Book #1 over the last year that the goal was now 25,000 words. Yep, short novels might be better for me. I revised a second time only 7,262 words.

Signed up again November 2015 with book #2. Zilch. I can’t stop signing up! LOL. It is like a habit now. Need the writing to be a habit. 🙂 We will see about this year. Maybe this will be where I finally stop signing up during November. LOL

I signed up for this April’s camp! It is going SOOO GOOD!!!!

I have officially revised everything I had cut long ago in Book #1. I am at 22,104 words with a 25,000 word goal! I feel great! Now comes adding the last 2,896 words from scratch. Which I am OK with because the book needed a different ending. I think I have been so hung up on that part and is why I never finish.

Lots of thinking and writing tonight!

The book will need a final complete revision but not because of the plot this time. The BONES are there! Finally!

Kudos to all you authors that can write several novels in a year. Maybe in the future for me but I don’t think this decade! LOL I’ll be tickled pink to finish this series of three books!

Maybe by 2018! 🙂

If all goes well, I hope to have Book #1 self published this summer and dive into Book #2 in July! Fingers crossed! I feel the writing muse is around me.

Have a great weekend! I hope to have great news on Sunday or Monday! 🙂

Fun Outside

Last week was productive for household stuff, but not for writing or editing. Maybe I will figure out how to do both in a day or week. LOL.

I began painting the backyard deck again. We started the project last year and didn’t finish. Seems to be our theme. Oops. It was nice enough with a breeze that I ended up with a lovely farmer’s tan. Darn it. Now I will look funny in a sleeveless shirt. It doesn’t take me long to tan either. Must be that Indian blood in me from my mom. 🙂

I did get the railings painted on two sides of the deck. I was going to finish the next day on the outside and steps but the weather man said it was going to rain.

Wrong. It didn’t rain until Sunday.

Hopefully, later this week I can begin again.

I did plant some morning-glory and bachelor button flowers. They are from seed, so I hope they will come up. It has been awhile since I done that. I bought the marigolds already bloomed. The marigolds I put in painted recycled ice cream buckets.  The bright orange puts some pop of color on the deck. 🙂

Painting the buckets put me in the mood to paint the kitchen chair which I originally bought the spray paint for. Needless to say, I saw the next morning that I had painted the garage floor as well.

Hubby laughed.

I did put the chair on plastic first, just my aim sent sprays of orange in other directions. Believe it or not no orange on me! The color is slowly coming off the floor so not all is lost. 🙂

I’m not done with chair yet so I will post a picture later.

I did 3 containers with the orange. That large planter has the bachelor buttons planted in it. There is another one that has the morning-glories. Can’t wait for them to start blooming.  🙂

I love solar lights. Makes a nice glow on the deck at night.

Even though I did not write or edit, I did edit three chapters today! So this week is off to a great start. Have a great week!

Do you like to plant flowers?

Spring Time Changes

I have stayed busy and consistent with editing every day for Camp NaNo! Makes me feel great! 🙂 I know another edit will need to be done after this challenge because there are some boring holes to fill. Oops.

I feel confident! I am energized to get er done! 🙂

I updated my blog as you can see. I think I really like it. It is clean and easy to read. I can change the colors easy as well. The header proved a challenge with my blog title but I finally found one. I think I will make me some for the next update now that I have my Illustrator program back. I love that Adobe does monthly subscriptions now. Though it does stink to pay for one program for almost the same price for the whole set but my computer graphics card can’t handle it. I do need to learn lots more on Illustrator so that is ok. I do miss Photoshop but maybe once I can upgrade the graphics then I can get all the programs again.

I did something I thought I would never do, I deactivated Facebook. I thought if I am going to get my HUGE list of things done I better do it. I feel rather good about it. I doubt I am missed. I didn’t have much interaction from people. I will miss other people’s updates but I must get things done. It was easy to pass an hour or two reading everyone’s. LOL.

I can hear “Lazy” the cat meowing so I better get out of the Creative Cave and give him some attention! I don’t allow the cats in here and it bothers them. Too much to knock over and “Emobear” loves to chew on PAPER! Go figure! LOL. My tummy is growling.

Have a splendid week!

Organization is Key!

I have been seeing several posts on various internet sites for updating your filing cabinets. I finally got around to doing one of mine. I used the good ole duck tape squares again along with the thin duck tape. I like it a lot. 🙂

I am not sure about the sides yet or the other cabinet. I love the way the sun hits the prism and brings out the colors!

I was also glad to find my exacto knife which made cutting the center handle easy. No measuring required! Lol.

Inside one cabinet is normal paperwork. I tend to be a paper hoarder. I’m afraid if I throw an important paper away I might need it. My paperwork goes back years! I stress years! But I am slowly throwing some away just not those bills. 🙂

I have decided to use the other file cabinet to organize my paper stock. I did have them on a blue shelf divider thing but I found I didn’t use the paper much because it was difficult to see what I had. I figured lets file them away!

Now, I open the cabinet and I can see what I have. I am going to do other craft supplies the same way. The best part is the paper will not get dusty. I dislike dusty paper.

My first month of the year has been organizing. I think I have accomplished quite a bit.

I have done some book editing. Funny thing there, I discovered I had edited way more last year in a beta part of the software and had forgotten about it.  When I took a break over the summer time I had forgot which software site I had used. The software I use had started a beta one for updating and moved it to a different internet address. I forgot about that. I had not saved it to my favorites. Ooops.

So when I picked back up editing in the Fall I opened the old software site because I was use to it. The new one I had used for just a month. I kept thinking, dang I know I had edited more, but I could not remember sites had changed. Crazy!

I love the site but one definite negative part was they didn’t automatically move over my work. Instead, one is suppose to import/export and redo where the chapters go. I’m sure I thought heck with that I will retype, catch more errors, and do my chapters again since I was not far into the editing. Normally, after editing I print out the chapter so I know where I was at. I had not done that. I am definitely doing it now. 🙂

My reading goal this year is 33 books! Yes, I went up even though I did not make my goal last year which was 25 I think. I like 3’s. Maybe it will help me to achieve it. LOL. I did read 2 books and almost have the 3rd done this January. I hope to keep with 3 a month for the low goal. Then that will leave December with no reading if I want. Seems December is tough for me to read during. I get into all the Christmas movies is my downfall. 🙂 I am missing those.

January has been good. I hope everyone else has had a good month! 🙂

Happy writing and happy reading! 🙂

Editing Enough Said

notafraidfirstdrafts(I think I got this from the NaNo site?)

I keep telling myself this. I was surprised today when I began editing my novella that it had been a whole year since I had touched chapters six and beyond. Wow.

I guess I was afraid! LOL. I did spend a few days on the first five chapters throughout the year. Hopefully, I did not over edit but I read through them and I like what I have. I don’t know if others will but as long as I do right now that is what counts. At least that is what I tell myself. 🙂

Once again, I waited until the last-minute to finish editing before I tackle the next part of the series, novella #2. It might actually be a longer book. We will see how much extra I end up with this next month. Those filler words tend to sneak their way into the book before the end of the month deadline. 🙂

I have a good feeling that I will get this accomplished this time.

Even though, I may not pick the pen up much over the year I am constantly thinking of the plot to the book. I do jot down notes so not all is lost on the writing. When I finished the first book I knew something was missing and it was not coming to me over the last few years. I knew when I felt the words rolling out on the screen today the missing part has been found. 🙂

I did start writing the second book a year ago and why I feel better about it is beyond me. I have always been a bit backwards though. LOL.

I am going to try my best to stay busy the next few days. Social media will not interfere I tell myself, over and over. 🙂

Happy writing! I am off to make spaghetti! 🙂
