Decor of Halloween!

14 - 5

I love having a fireplace to decorate. There is so much a person can do with it. An added bonus is the cats don’t jump up there so I can have pretties out. At least, they have not tried. 🙂 They have sniffed the scarecrows but I firmly say no and they give that look and walk on. I am amazed at night they haven’t dragged the scarecrows around, but the season is not over. Silly animals.

I once saw someone decorating a tree for all holidays and thought that was pretty cool. I don’t want a large tree up all the time so I bought this small one. I bought a green one so I could reuse for the Christmas holiday. Budget you know!

The foam sticky things make great ornaments. I put a paperclip on them to attach them to the tree. I used Halloween ribbon for my garland. I thought about lights but I have enough lights up at Christmas so I will give my electric bill a break. 🙂

Wall Decor14 - 414 - 3

The wall decorations I chose are a mixture of Halloween and Fall. It will be easy to take down the Halloween and keep some Fall décor up for Thanksgiving. I have noticed that Thanksgiving seems to be short changed when it comes to decorations. I have made some of my own that you will see next month.

I love the yellows, oranges, and reds of Fall time. Sunflowers remind me of my grandma, so I thought putting them on the TV stand was the place for them. Now, I can think of her when I sit down to watch a show.

Speaking of grandma, how about those Royals!!! Yay, she would have been so pleased to see they made the World Series. I live in Kansas, so definitely excited about them making it after all these years. One thing I never accomplished was taking grandma to a game. It is on my bucket list to go and I believe she will be there with me in spirit. 🙂

I have not decorated outside yet. I am saving that for when hubby can help. He loves to decorate for the trick or treaters. I have one son that still loves trick or treating. My two older kids did until they were in high school then they loved to decorate outside and scare the little kids that came to the house. 🙂

Living in the larger city the last two years we get a lot more trick or treaters. When we lived in the small town we were lucky to get a handful.

Previous years I would buy the candy for Halloween night and we would get all the leftovers. Now, having so many kids coming to the house we run out!

We can not have that, so candy has been in the bowl for a few weeks. I did chocolate first and now it is taffy, skittles, and starburst.

Of course, I hid some chocolate elsewhere for me. 🙂

Normally, we do not keep candy in the house but holidays is different. The boys know to ask first before having some. Even though, I’m sure they sneak a few.

Gobble Till You Wobble

The first stage, fine marker. I saw this saying on good ole Pinterest. Love that site. I did mostly Halloween projects last year, it was fun to do these Thanksgiving ones. It seems Thanksgiving tends to be left alone. I love the holiday. I miss the big holiday dinners that we had when I was growing up. I know we will have those again one day, I do have four kids after all. Multiply that and it equals big family. Yay!

I added the watercolor pencils. I like this art type. I like acrylic paints but need more practice.

The final product. I love it. It looks good with the other wall decor I did today.

Turkey Dance

My dancing turkey art for Thanksgiving. I don’t have a lot of Thanksgiving art to hang, decided to make my own. This is the drawing with fine marker.

The next stage, coloring with watercolor pencils. I am still learning the technique and enjoy the outcome.

The stage of adding water. I think it turned out good. I’m getting better at applying the water. I use to add to much water and then it would run. Progress!

Last stage, added a fun saying. It is now on my wall, on to the next project. Happy Sunday!
