Fun With 1/2 the Family

Last Saturday was a fun fall day with three of my immediate family members. It began with the middle son bowling in a tournament out-of-town. He did good. It was fun. He said he enjoyed it. We had not participated in a tournament other than school team in a few years so it was nice to be at one again. He did bowl one game of 236! 🙂

My hubby and daughter joined us at the tournament which was great. The youngest son stayed home, he didn’t want no boring bowling tournament. lol

After the tournament we headed to a pumpkin patch that we had been to when the boys were in grade school. The daughter wanted to go and she didn’t have to twist our arm too hard to go there. It was fun and a perfect cool night.

Hubby and I figuring out how to climb up there. It was a bit comical, but we made it! 🙂

The daughter, hubby, and the middle son. As always hubby and son messing around and made the photo blurry. oops.  🙂  The daughter and son.  🙂

The daughter and I had fun with the kiddy stuff. We were wondering why they put the board in the middle of the opening of the scarecrow? Perhaps it had fallen down? So, we stood by it instead of poking our faces through the hat area.  🙂

The corn maze was a blast!

The kids ended up going their own way. They said they made it out once before we found them, but they got lost trying to find us….so….are they really telling the truth? LOL

I have only been to two different mazes but this one is so far the best and challenging.  🙂

We also rode on the hayrack ride around the area and ate some goodies. There is a ton of stuff to do and they keep adding more and more. One area had all kinds of outdoor games like corn hole, tic tac toe, and giant legos!

We will definitely be going back. Oh, and they had a band playing and lots of areas for making your own fire pits for cooking.

It is a neat pumpkin patch!

Zooooooooom, It’s Fall

I think I’m ready for Fall. I’m more a person who likes warm weather but Fall is pretty and it brings on the holidays. 🙂 I would like a bit of a break from yard work, because I suck at growing flowers. LOL

I will keep trying.

There has to be a flower out there that is meant just for me to keep alive. 🙂

My morning glories are finally blooming. I didn’t even plant that one this year, came up from last year’s soil. It is fairly thin of flowers though.  😦

I bought two things of mums and one is doing ok but the other is not. Sigh.

img_20180721_210835 I have done good with that purple flower thing there. I bought it in August after the extreme 100 degree weather we had. Forget what it is. I am too lazy to walk up there and look at the plant identifier thing in the soil. 🙂

Oh, look I have metal flowers! My kind of flowers! Bloom all year-long.  🙂

Normally, when it cools down I tend to start the inside projects. I have been muddying and sanding some of the basement walls. I’m getting better! We are not finishing the whole basement just the living portion. There is a big area on the other end of the basement that we keep for storage.

The alcove there is now one of the son’s computer station. I even decorated the wall with his sport stuff. He said mom, why. Because I can and you should be proud. 🙂 I found his kindergarten photo the teacher took on the first day of school. I had to hang that one!

img_20180902_140419 Hubby and I finished the flooring. I like it.  Didn’t do any where the storage area is though. We left that concrete.

Keeping with Fall, when I did the sanding on the one wall this showed up!

img_20180924_003554 Invisible spider webs! No maid I am. The drywall had been up for several years, just now muddying it. Yea that procrastination thing again. Amazing that I never saw the webs all the time walking by. I think maybe it should stay for Halloween…nope…it has been dusted and soon will have paint. 🙂

I have not decorated yet for Fall or Halloween. I did pack away the more springy outdoor décor to make room for Fall/Halloween. Perhaps by next weekend it will all be done! My goal!

Do you decorate and how early? I’ve heard some have decorated for Christmas!

I had a few frosty things on my car windshield today. I don’t think I am ready for that. Fall yes but not getting downright cold. I had to turn my heater on last night for the first time. Ugh.

I do love this time of year because of all the decorating. I have started. I don’t know why I have not put it all out at once. A bit here and there. I am painting a few wood projects for Fall decorating. So much fun.

I have tormented the cats with hanging insects on yarn hanging from the doorways. They are loving it. Good fun and exercise.

Have been keeping busy with every other household chore there is to do and taxing kids everywhere.

I have not jumped into writing much other than for some writing assignments. More like advertising to me. I enjoy it. Pays a little.

I think about things to write on a daily basis just haven’t put to paper. I thought putting it on my to do list would help but nope. I am not sure yet if I will try the NaNoWriMo next month.

Pondering.

Procrastinating.

I have been reading. The book I just finished last night is really good!

The Ocean at The End of The Lane by Neil Gaiman

I won’t tell the story because I want you to read it. I hate reading the whole plot of a story. I still read the book but sucks to know what will happen.

It is about a young 7-year-old boy who encounters magical people.

Loved the story!

Well written.

Kept me turning the page.

Author has a terrific fun, loving imagination. Definitely a must read if you like magical stuff, even if you don’t. 🙂 I think magical people watching out for you would be awesome!

I checked this one out at the library. Go me. I went to the library. 🙂

It’s a bit of Fall out there!

I have the windows open and the cool breeze blowing through the duplex!

Of course, by the weekend I will want warm weather back. 🙂

As for the moment I will think about the pretty color changes that the cooler weather brings. I can’t forget the fun holiday of Halloween! I really need to start making some of my decorations instead of adding more ideas to my folders. 🙂

I will miss wearing shorts and capris though. I only have a few pairs of jeans because I swear to lose those extra pounds before buying anymore. I think I have said that for the last twenty years!

I’m ready to not have to worry about, is someone able to mow our yard back at the Puzzle house? I feel bad asking for help but we can not always make the four hour drive to mow it. Dang money and dang gas prices. I do miss taking care of the yard when I want to. I never thought I would say that. I guess living in a duplex with hardly a yard will do that. We have maintenance people here that mow.

I love to drink hot chocolate in the cooler weather. I am so looking forward to that. I love to bake more when it is cooler. The family will like that. 🙂 Lots of good points about cooler weather.

We were lucky this summer the high temps did not stick around that long. It was a nice summer. We even had more rain to cool things off and to give the Earth it’s much needed drink.

But, I do admit by January’s blistering cold weather I am more than ready for Spring!

I happen to love all four seasons!

What is your favorite season? Why?

I can’t wait to decorate! 🙂

Back In The Groove…I Think

Lazy found his spot This is Lazy.

I decided to rearrange my living room. I had not done that in quite awhile. Normally, I do it about each season. As soon as I positioned the couch and folded the blanket Lazy perched himself on the blanket. He is a goofy cat.

Then he decided he needed to lay on my son’s school binder.

Lazy and EmoBear sitting on binder

He doesn’t seem to mind that he is almost too big for it. 🙂

The grey cat is Emobear. He just finished scratching my green coat.

Here is our third cat, Ninja. She is enjoying the new toy I got them. The feathers are about gone already.

Ninja and toy

Yes, I let all three boys talk me into the cats about three years ago. They have definitely been fun to have.

I could do without the cat hair, but who couldn’t.  Lint rollers have become my new best friend.

The cats have been the highlight of my summer. We really did not do anything interesting this year. Not one camping trip. I am sad. I guess a goal to shoot for next summer.

The boys began school last week. YAY! Back to a routine, that is what I like. Plus, it makes life more interesting. 🙂

The school changed their hours to earlier start time and I am amazed the boys have adapted well.

I am not a morning person but I must say I have become more of one in the last few years. I never thought that would happen. 🙂

I hope everyone had a great summer. We did even though no big adventures. I guess we will have to make up for it this fall.

Did you have any adventures?

The beginning of school means back to routine and back to writing regularly! I will be blogging more!
