How’s Your Year?

valentine-4(created by Me! πŸ™‚ Forget the year)

It hasn’t been terrible but hasn’t been good either. Mostly, little things that are stressful. Kids not minding, money issues, things breaking, etc. You get the drift. I guess ifΒ fate gets all these out-of-the-way these first few months and then smooth sailing the rest of the year than that will be great. πŸ™‚ Time will tell.

We sure have not had much winter time. I hope that doesn’t mean it will be a late winter when spring is supposed to hit. We have had cool temperatures just not the white stuff. πŸ™‚ Glad for hardly any below zero temps. I think we had one week of that and that was enough. πŸ™‚

Thanks to my stress level I haven’t achieved much of what I set out to do this year. But it is early. I hate being unproductive, gets me in a mood of depression. Not severe just down.

One good thing, I started back at the YMCA. A few times the boys have went with me which is fun. πŸ™‚ They like lifting weights.

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day tomorrow. It is my favorite holiday. I love hearts and all things about it. No, you don’t have to have a certain someone to enjoy the holiday. πŸ™‚ I still loved it when I was single. Hubby will be on the road so he gave me three roses this weekend and we grilled with the boys. πŸ™‚ I think we have had more Valentine’s away than together during our whole time together. At least with technology one can still feel like they are there. I will send him a snapchat tomorrow. πŸ™‚ I do miss a tiny bit making Valentine’s for my kids’ classrooms. We made ours most of the time, except when we procrastinated and had to buy them. LOLΒ  πŸ™‚

valentines-2012(Here is one I made when the boys’ had to make them. I did it in Illustrator. πŸ™‚ )

Have a great day tomorrow! And the rest of the week, year etc! πŸ™‚

Welcome New Year 2016

Howdy everyone!

I hope the holidays were good and filled with lots of memories. It was wonderful here. I did get a cold but I nursed it with lots of orange juice and chicken noodle soup. πŸ™‚ My grandma always treated a cold that way. Thank goodness it lasted only a week.

We had a house full. The daughter was able to spend a little over a week with us. She also brought her two cats along. It was fun watching our three cats mingle with them. Of course, the cats favorite person was my hubby. He has that way with animals. He gives them lots of attention.

The oldest son made it for a week on leave from his Navy training. His oldest friend from high school joined in the fun and stayed as well. It seemed like old times. πŸ™‚

I did not get any baking done for the holidays though. Bummer. I think I missed that last year too. Hopefully, this year will be different. Though the boys did say they would give up gifts if we could go somewhere for Christmas. Cool. Though that will be more expensive than the gifts. We don’t give expensive gifts normally.

Normally we giveΒ a few things that they want, money, and some fun childhood gifts like foam dart guns. LOL. We like to bond and laugh more than give expensive stuff. Plus, it takes the pressure off of spending more than the budget can handle. πŸ™‚

We leave those expensive gifts for during the yearΒ so the kids can learn to help save up and pay for them. I know all their friends got these cool gifts but I’d rather them work towards them than be handed them. Plus, we have had Christmas’ where we could barely afford a fifty dollar gift let alone the high dollar ones. I don’t want them to be disappointed from Christmas to Christmas. I’d rather set the tone for a low key Christmas than bounce from high dollar to low dollar. I’ve tried shopping early, it don’t work. I’ve tried saving up, it don’t work. LOL This way works for us. I’m glad other families can do what they want to do, so I don’t look down on those that spend a lot. This is just what works for us. πŸ™‚

Most Christmas’ hubby and I do not exchange gifts especially when the budget is tight. We usually get something we want a few months later. πŸ™‚ Hubby spoiled me. I must say it is also a gift for him. He bought me a new used car with low miles. Our other one was starting to have issues beyond what he wanted to repair. He was worried about me breaking down with him on the road a lot. And with all the dings and dents in the old car the value was declining for a trade in. I will just need to do some creative cutting back on the food. No problem! Two growing teenage boys. LOL

He also got me a lounge chair for my Creative Cave! Best gift ever!Β  He now has a place to sit when he bothers me. LOLΒ  It worked nicely for a bed for the daughter while she was here too. πŸ™‚

I really love how it turns to a lounge chair. Reading chair! πŸ™‚

He also got me a pretty glass item for my curio cabinet. I didn’t take a picture. Too many stairs to run up. πŸ™‚

I promised him his big TV as soon as we can. πŸ™‚

I hated seeing everyone leave but we must all get back to normal routines. πŸ™‚

I will say I’m ready for Spring now. πŸ™‚ I got my first bulb and flower magazine in the mail the other day. Ready! Where is Spring?

Did you know…

Lazy-Day-001 (my personal photo creation 2bcreative2013)

The first Friday of September is National Lazy Mom’s Day! Who knew? Not me until I did a search looking up September holidays. I was actually wanting to know the main holidays for a possible wall hanging project I want to do this month. I was surprised to find this “National” holiday. What an awesome one!

It brings up a question.
Can a mom actually be lazy for a whole day?
I mean really, there are too many things to be done in a mom’s schedule.

Who is going to cook? The local fast food place maybe.

Who is going to find that lost item that no one seems to be able to find? It seems mom is the only one who can really look for something.

Who is going to actually wipe the counters off when they spill that drink? I swear I am the only one who can wipe anything off. I have even tried, I say tried to wait out wiping it off hoping they would. I guess they don’t mind the messes. Sigh.

Who is going to refill that roll of toilet paper? It is such a difficult task but yet seems I am the only one that can take the bar off the holder, slip the new roll of toilet paper on, and put the bar back in the holder. Rocket Science! πŸ™‚

Who is going to do the grocery shopping? Hmm, that one might be one mom has to do all the time. If your family is like mine, they come home with everything but what you send them to the store for and the bill is 2x what it should be.

I am pretty fortunate that I have a super great hubby that will help me out, so I could be lazy if I wanted to be. It actually drives me batty if I am not doing something productive for the day which results in something done for the family. I may not go 100 miles an hour all day, but there is always some kind of cleaning to be done, or a task that needs done. I have decided that this holiday is really not a holiday unless….

If you take the point of view of “lazy” being our appearance, well then I have that one down pat! πŸ™‚

Do I wear makeup everyday? Heck no, why bother when no one sees you. Hubby don’t mind, he is stuck with me. πŸ™‚ It is a real treat when I do wear makeup and I get all kinds of compliments. I know how to play that one. Scare them most days and then bam, the next day beautify myself. πŸ™‚

Do I change clothes when I get up? Well, it is not unheard of to be in the afternoon before I finally do. The positive of not having to work outside of the home. I really get them the days I dress up, tons of compliments. If I did that everyday, they wouldn’t notice. πŸ™‚

Is it Lazy of me or just preparing them?

Do I make everyone breakfast in the morning? Heck no again. I have trained them well, they make their own or they starve. I’m not a chef. I’m lucky they eat my supper time meal. πŸ™‚

Do I cook a meal every night? No way. I have lazy times. IΒ didn’t need no holiday to tell me to. I figure this way if they can cook a few fast meals, they won’t starve when they move out. There is always some kind of fruit in the fridge to eat so it is all balanced and good. πŸ™‚

ThisΒ proves I can’t be entirely lazy.

Do I make them clean their rooms every time? Well, I just can not go in without picking something up. I have tried the waiting game and it just gets under my skin to have a complete messy room. I owe that to my grandma, she always made sure I picked my room up. I was afraid of her. My kids are not afraid of me. 😦

Do I make them do their own laundry? It depends. When they get into high school, I most definitely make them. It is not unheard of if they leave it in the dryer I will put the clothes away when they are at school. Think they know that? πŸ™‚ If the younger ones are at home when I decide to do laundry, I will have them sort it and bring it to the laundry room. I will put it away. Tried the put your laundry away and it ends up on the floor of the closet and gets rewashed. I can’t have that.

Not all is failed.

I do have help with the trash.

They do wash off their plates and put them in the dishwasher.

They do dress themselves.

Once in awhile they feed their pets but the cat litter is still up to me. 😦

They like to scoop snow, when we actually get some.

They do help unload the groceries.

For some reason, they love to vacuum. Now if only I could get them to dust. πŸ™‚

In conclusion, it is not entirely possible to be a lazy mom. Not me anyway. I think in honor of the holiday, I will not cook tonight. πŸ™‚

Can you be lazy and what kind of lazy?
