Moving….makes me exhausted!

We purchased our new home!

Actually, it is our second home, we still have our first home in another town. It is currently being remodeled because it is only 100 years old. 🙂

Fun.

I call it our Puzzle House because it is two structures that were put together to form a home and then was added on several times. So much fun. I do love it. We say it is our family home because it is nice to escape to when we want to. 🙂

It is only four hours away. You could say it is our way of taking a trip only not to some fancy destination. The small town I grew up in is nice and I love that we can go home when we feel like it. It’s a way of holding on to some great memories and to still be able to experience small town living.

There are good things about living in a city and good things about living in a small town. I am very lucky to be able to have both. 🙂

To me that is a luxury worth more than any fancy vacation or vacation home. (But if I won the lottery I bet I could be persuaded to take a few vacations! LOL)

Eventually, we will live there again but not until it is finished and most likely way down the road. We are playing it year by year. There are more jobs here to choose from then the small town so that is why we are currently happy here. It is nice to have that choice. Plus, we got tired of living in a remodel. Did that for twelve years. Very stressful.

Back to the new home! This one is only 5 years old! So nice to live in a finished home! Though we wouldn’t be us if we didn’t find a home that we still need to do a bit of work on. The plus side of this one is it has a full unfinished basement but the basement could easily be left alone. It is a nice basement, not dark and dreary like some. It is wide open. Plans are to put two more bedrooms, a hobby room, a bathroom, a storage room, and then the rest is the open area for a family/game room. Yes, it is that big! I love that it has two big windows and not the normal basement windows. Again, if we don’t want to finish it we don’t need to. We want to concentrate on the Puzzle House for now.

The main living area is two levels. The boys have their own level with a bathroom and it has a open balcony that overlooks the living room. Pretty cool. One cat even decided to take a leap off it. Scared the crap out of me! Cat just fine. Curious if he will try that again. 🙂

The main floor has our bedroom suite, yes suite. Love it! The living, dining, and kitchen are all open to one another. Really like that. The laundry room is close to the garage. We have a yard that has real grass and some trees! If you knew what our grass was like at the Puzzle House you would understand. LOL….it is a luxury to have grass here. 🙂

I hope to be organized by next week so I can begin writing more and reading! I still have some things to move at the duplex and then the fun of cleaning really good.

It has been a long few months. I tell you the process of buying a house is the most stress ever! I better win the lottery if I ever want to buy another house. I’m not going through all that again. Mostly, because our first lender was not a good lender. Our second lender was the bomb! She did excellent! She was local so it pays to stay local when shopping!

I hope everyone is enjoying their Fall! Happy reading and writing!

Our Very Old House

This is the beginning of what will be our new bathroom at our house in my hometown. The last of the dirty slat wood! Yes, it is a very OLD house. Actually, it was two buildings that were put together way back when and made into a house. It looks to have been a second hand store at one time.

This is what we found when we took the siding off to put new on. We have asked around but no one remembers it. It might just be that long ago. Interesting.

Back to the bathroom, the history of the bathroom has had many occupants before now.
First moved in:
Oldest son’s room (he was a toddler and didn’t sleep in it much) 🙂
An office
The daughter had it as her bedroom for years.
The two youngest boys shared it for awhile.
My dad’s room for about six months.
Lastly, a computer and art room.

It’s final purpose will be our wonderful big bathroom. I bet it takes a good year to get done. I am just glad we don’t have to live in it while we are working on it like all the other remodels. A short weekend will be just enough time and then high tail it out of there back to where we currently live. It has definitely been an interesting challenge. Hubby and I call it “An Adventure”! 🙂

Year Anniversary……

Year one

(Google image)

I signed in today and saw congratulations to making it one year! Yay, me! I actually stuck to it! I did have a no show in blogging all last summer. I must have been planning in my head what to write. Yeah, that’s it. 🙂

In the Fall, I purchased a dry erase board and began jotting down a general topic for each week. It really helped. It has made me write something because it stares at me when I wake up in the morning. It is right by my side of the bed. The bedroom is also the office.

I have a small area at our home in NW Kansas but we moved for hubby’s career to NE Kansas and currently renting. We are pondering buying a home here because we like the area and of course I must have a space, not in the bedroom, for a new creative office. 🙂 Who cares about his space for his hobbies….just kidding.

He gets the garage. 🙂

I have enjoyed writing on here as well as reading other blogs. I know there is still a lot to learn from it. I look forward to figuring it out. 🙂

How do you plan your blogs?

Second day bomb!

I thought maybe the day was going to be great. It turned real quick to the downside, so needless to say no writing, as of yet.

Why does the youngest kid of the family have to be the most stubborn? My young one decided last night to not do his homework, so he got his TV taken away, and he continued with being stubborn. I had hoped he would get up this morning and want to do the homework, no such luck, and in fact, he refused to go to school! Even when hubby got involved.

So he got not only his computer taken away, he got his birthday party taken away today and was bored all day long. If you can’t do what you are told then the fun stuff has to be taken away. Really sucks though that it is his birthday. We told him he had to earn it all back and he still really isn’t getting it.

What did turning 10 all of a sudden make him into the devil’s child? Wow, I can now tell my oldest, 21 year old daughter that she has been surpassed by her baby brother with stubbornness. I just hope he doesn’t surpass her on teenage year crimes.

I still have only 300 words wrote for my NaNo novel. Grumble.
