I have lived in several homes that were all white or all tan, and they were ok, but I prefer color. My youngest son thinks my decorating style is strange. Well, kiddo I like it strange. Color is cheerful. 🙂
Here are a few of the many paint samples I have chosen over the last couple decades. I like color. I have definitely painted my share of walls. I have more to paint but keep stalling. I am getting tired of painting walls. 🙂
Pineapple = Dining Room(yellow)
Leaping Water = bathroom trim (light sea green?)
Gargoyle = outside projects (grey)
Chicago Sky = basement main room(blue)
Antarctic Ice = laundry room and guest room (light tan/white)
Edge of Night = my creative cave top half of walls (light grey)
Pledge of Allegiance = my creative cave bottom half of walls (medium purple)
Aztec Rouge = kitchen at our Puzzle House in my hometown (red-brown)
Flirtation = kitchen at our Puzzle House in my hometown (blue)
Here are a few examples.
Top= Edge of Night,
Bottom = Pledge of Allegiance
Chicago Style (blue)
I think the most difficult color to paint is red! We painted our hallway a deep red with white trim at our other house and it looks elegant but boy the paint can show brush strokes and such. I think I will stick to accents of red. 🙂
I love the names they give paint. While I look for the color I want, the name tends to pull me to the shade of color. Do you know the names of your walls?
My swing is up! Thanks to hubby! I have had that swing for years. Originally was going to hang it at the Puzzle House but since we are not there as often I brought it here. We have the perfect porch for it. I wanted a privacy wall though because the neighbor’s kitchen table is right there. I felt like I was spying on them. Or maybe that I felt like they were spying on me. 🙂
I need to paint the privacy wall. We are changing the porch railings to a grey. I have yet to decide to paint it grey too or come up with something unique and pretty.
It is nice to go outside and relax!
Hubby is going to put up another privacy wall on the end there as well. Eventually, we are putting up a fence and don’t want anyone jumping into the backyard from the porch. 🙂
I am getting a little writing done on my second book. Not as much as I would like but at least I am writing. The Creative Cave has cooled down with the cooler weather. I think I write better when it is cool. Basements are good for that. 🙂 Perfect spot for the cave!
I did not get around to posting my Halloween decorations so I will post those and the Thanksgiving one. I don’t like to skip Thanksgiving, too many pretty colors and we should be thankful for all that we have. 😉 I didn’t decorate much outside so no photos there. Hopefully, next year add to decorations for outside.
Love having a fireplace to decorate! 🙂 The cats only attempt once in a while to get the decorations. They don’t like the water bottle! Or me clapping my hands loud! It is kind of fun. 🙂
Happy writing or whatever you are doing today! 🙂
The Media Room. AKA The Boys Cave as my youngest likes to call it. 🙂
The beginning it was storage.
West wall and stairs
West and south wall
East wall or soon to be
The walls began going up, then the fun of mudding and sanding. Hubby had that fun. 🙂
View of room next to it.
The hallway to our caves!
Painting stage! Hubby painted and I did the touch-up. We are not perfect but I think it looks nice. In fact, compared to the pros that did this house our flaws are not much different from theirs. Sad. I would think the pros would blow us away. 🙂
Measuring for the floor covering
I love the blue.
West and south wall
The almost finished product. We love how the stain turned out on the baseboard and around the entertainment area. It really goes with the flooring we chose. We went with a new versalock vinyl plank. It was simple and it is water proof! A big plus! It required snap and go! No gluing! 🙂
Love it! Bed is temporary.
West and south wall.
East wall next to guest room.
The two end shelves have yet to be done but it will be covered in wood and stained to match the rest. 🙂 The cats have already claimed it to sit on. 🙂 Eventually the flooring will be the entire basement other than the storage area. We will add a drop down ceiling so we can still get to all the plumbing and ductwork. 🙂 I’m sure problems will arise.
Looking at the drop down ceilings, they have really made them look cool and sound proof. I like that. I saw that one could even paint them but I think we will leave them white to bring out some light.
The boys are enjoying their space. It solved the problem of electronics in their rooms. 🙂 Yay!
Now, if only I could find the right comfy furniture. 🙂 A couch is out of the question because the stairs turn and it is a mess to get things down there. I’m thinking comfy chairs or a lounge chair.
Pondering it. 🙂
Watercolor pencils and marker
I drew these teapots several years ago in college. I had them in a sketchbook and decided to finally put some color to them. I decided on watercolor pencils. I have always enjoyed doing the cross-hatching technique so I did that with the pencils. I have yet to put water to the color but will do that soon. I was anxious to hang them up and put some décor in my kitchen.
This is what it looks like hung up. 🙂
I have plenty of room to add more which there are a few more drawn in my sketchbook. I would like to find some teapot pieces to add dimension to the space. I picture copper ones that are half a teapot. I know I have seen those somewhere.
Eventually, I plan on painting the kitchen a different shade of yellow. It needs touched up. The house is only five years old but I believe several families lived here in those years so it is in need of repainting. 🙂 All in time.
I bought the picture frames at the $1 store. I had to laugh at how cheaply they were made when I placed the drawing inside. I just hope someday they don’t fall down on someone. 🙂 Hey, they look alright. I might even paint the frame a shade of orange later. Still pondering that one. 🙂
I love decorating, just wish I had plenty of money to do it. Don’t we all? 🙂
Have a great day! The sun is shining here and a wonderful 49 degrees. Crazy for January.

My “bleep bleep” computer has been giving me fits for a few months now. It is driving me nuts. Thank goodness I have other things to do so I can walk away from it when it makes me angry. It sure doesn’t help that I rely on it for so many things.
The bad thing is it is probably due to some dang virus or idiot who thinks it is fun to put bugs on our electronics. It sucks that an antivirus does not always catch them either. I think those people should be locked up and the key threw away. It’s not like one can go buy another electronic to replace it whenever they want.
I had to vent, it is really aggravating when you need to do some work and the electronic doesn’t function the way it should. My electronic is not that old either. It makes it even more frustrating. Grumble.
I am lucky that I know how to fix a few things so I don’t have to rely on paying someone. I can thank my hubby for teaching me his knowledge of electronics. But boy, does it waste a lot of hours in the day.
Maybe the electronic is telling me, go paint that wall you have had the paint bought for! 🙂
I guess I will go paint that wall. Hope your day goes without any electronic issues!
