I Swear It Was Not That

A few weeks ago I ordered a new 2-page quarter year calendar journal from Day Timer. I was excited to open it when it arrived. The first thing I noticed was that it was for October, November, and December 2015. WHAT?

I can not believe I did not notice that when ordering it. I remember thinking October was an odd time to start a date book but I know you can get one’s that start in September, so I did not think anything of it.

I should have paid better attention.

But, all is not lost. January actually began the same day October will. I scratched out the October and put January on all the month’s pages.

February has a few extra days since it is actually November, crossed those out.

March is a bit more tricky. I crossed out the day of the week and will write above it the true day.

This all led to thinking, I can doodle and put color on the pages to hide the month and day when needed. Works pretty well. I always doodled on my notes when I was in high school and college. I also wrote with colored pen. Love colored pens.

Why, would I not send it back and get the real one?

I did not want to wait. LOL

Plus, why waste it. It is easily fixed and it was my error. I will make sure to double check the next quarterly calendar that I order in March!

I really like this one too.

It has a place for

To Be Done Today (Action List): I use this for the day’s task I want to complete. Some days it is huge and others I am rather lazy. Interesting to see what I really get done.

A section for appointments with the time beginning at 7am – 10pm: I put down kids’ schedules and mine. I write what I get accomplished plus how long. Good for making me write.

Phone call section, expense record section: Not much goes here. I do not get many calls. I sometimes use it for other things I want to track.

Next page is an entire page of work record: This is where all my ideas go. When I complete them I flip back and check them off. It includes my writing ideas plus all the art stuff I want to get done.

It even acts as a diary in a way. I will jot down funny stuff that happens or things I want to remember. I wish I had done this a long time ago with things the kids do or say. 🙂

In the beginning, I wrote down my New Year Goals. It will be fun to see what I achieve at the end of the year. I did another page with my creative goals. I put these on the beginning days 1-5 because the calendar did not arrive until after the 5th.

The best part, it fits in my purse. 🙂

Did you know…

Lazy-Day-001 (my personal photo creation 2bcreative2013)

The first Friday of September is National Lazy Mom’s Day! Who knew? Not me until I did a search looking up September holidays. I was actually wanting to know the main holidays for a possible wall hanging project I want to do this month. I was surprised to find this “National” holiday. What an awesome one!

It brings up a question.
Can a mom actually be lazy for a whole day?
I mean really, there are too many things to be done in a mom’s schedule.

Who is going to cook? The local fast food place maybe.

Who is going to find that lost item that no one seems to be able to find? It seems mom is the only one who can really look for something.

Who is going to actually wipe the counters off when they spill that drink? I swear I am the only one who can wipe anything off. I have even tried, I say tried to wait out wiping it off hoping they would. I guess they don’t mind the messes. Sigh.

Who is going to refill that roll of toilet paper? It is such a difficult task but yet seems I am the only one that can take the bar off the holder, slip the new roll of toilet paper on, and put the bar back in the holder. Rocket Science! 🙂

Who is going to do the grocery shopping? Hmm, that one might be one mom has to do all the time. If your family is like mine, they come home with everything but what you send them to the store for and the bill is 2x what it should be.

I am pretty fortunate that I have a super great hubby that will help me out, so I could be lazy if I wanted to be. It actually drives me batty if I am not doing something productive for the day which results in something done for the family. I may not go 100 miles an hour all day, but there is always some kind of cleaning to be done, or a task that needs done. I have decided that this holiday is really not a holiday unless….

If you take the point of view of “lazy” being our appearance, well then I have that one down pat! 🙂

Do I wear makeup everyday? Heck no, why bother when no one sees you. Hubby don’t mind, he is stuck with me. 🙂 It is a real treat when I do wear makeup and I get all kinds of compliments. I know how to play that one. Scare them most days and then bam, the next day beautify myself. 🙂

Do I change clothes when I get up? Well, it is not unheard of to be in the afternoon before I finally do. The positive of not having to work outside of the home. I really get them the days I dress up, tons of compliments. If I did that everyday, they wouldn’t notice. 🙂

Is it Lazy of me or just preparing them?

Do I make everyone breakfast in the morning? Heck no again. I have trained them well, they make their own or they starve. I’m not a chef. I’m lucky they eat my supper time meal. 🙂

Do I cook a meal every night? No way. I have lazy times. I didn’t need no holiday to tell me to. I figure this way if they can cook a few fast meals, they won’t starve when they move out. There is always some kind of fruit in the fridge to eat so it is all balanced and good. 🙂

This proves I can’t be entirely lazy.

Do I make them clean their rooms every time? Well, I just can not go in without picking something up. I have tried the waiting game and it just gets under my skin to have a complete messy room. I owe that to my grandma, she always made sure I picked my room up. I was afraid of her. My kids are not afraid of me. 😦

Do I make them do their own laundry? It depends. When they get into high school, I most definitely make them. It is not unheard of if they leave it in the dryer I will put the clothes away when they are at school. Think they know that? 🙂 If the younger ones are at home when I decide to do laundry, I will have them sort it and bring it to the laundry room. I will put it away. Tried the put your laundry away and it ends up on the floor of the closet and gets rewashed. I can’t have that.

Not all is failed.

I do have help with the trash.

They do wash off their plates and put them in the dishwasher.

They do dress themselves.

Once in awhile they feed their pets but the cat litter is still up to me. 😦

They like to scoop snow, when we actually get some.

They do help unload the groceries.

For some reason, they love to vacuum. Now if only I could get them to dust. 🙂

In conclusion, it is not entirely possible to be a lazy mom. Not me anyway. I think in honor of the holiday, I will not cook tonight. 🙂

Can you be lazy and what kind of lazy?
