Back…I think

I have no excuse for not blogging other than not doing it. 🙂 I did let my site go back to the free version, so I had to redesign it. I like the new design. I see there are some new features if a paying account. I will ponder that for awhile if I finish the year strong. 🙂

I still miss the check spelling and english button. 😦

The son did graduate in May. The school only did an online ceremony which was good but I think they could have done a regular ceremony after seeing several friends’ kids having one. 😦 Now, we have another senior and so hope he gets one. He was going to do the online learning until they showed what classes were offered. He was disappointed but switched to going to the school. He doesn’t fear the virus because he has been working the whole time other than a month and they take his temperature every time, but he had hoped for the online since it sounds like little socializing at school. 😦

I still do not know anyone who has had it. I hope it stays that way. 🙂

The son that graduated stayed with his job until about June and then quit because there was a kid he worked mainly with that was not nice to him. He wished he wasn’t like that because he misses the job a bit. Maybe things worked out because his car has quit and would have been difficult to get him to the job because it was 30 minutes away. He has been helping me out and chilling until hopefully this virus slows down and then find a job. He gets anxiety with wearing the mask. He has allergies so sneezes a lot which isn’t a good thing right now. LOL He won’t take any medicine. Which is good because he doesn’t like pills but yet he would feel better if he did, perhaps. LOL

I have been busy watching the granddaughter when the daughter goes to work. I forget how much a toddler wears me out. I just don’t have the energy now to do it ALL. LOL I am amazed how I did it in my 20s and 30s. 🙂 The daughter has met a very nice man who I think may be the one! He is really nice and polite. Win Win. 🙂

Hubby is still truck driving but definitely is counting down the days to retire, 2 years! 🙂 I’m counting the days as well. Ready for him to be home all the time! 🙂

Our 3 1/2 year old refrigerator broke this week. Sucks. So we got to decide on a new one. Just sucks that it has to go to the appliance graveyard. We all liked it. 🙂 It was a challenge this week with me watching the granddaughter 24/7 since her mom had her Army AT. Both boys helped a lot with trying to figure out the problem and cleaning out all the WASTED food! 😦 Needless to say we ate out a lot but we do more than normal now since this virus has showed it’s ugly face. We do have our old fridge downstairs and the repairman got it to not leak anymore. Yay! But the hubby and son said no way they are hauling it upstairs again! LOL It is heavy and the stairs are not straight up, they are a challenge. We do like having that one down there for drinks and over flow of food. 🙂

We haven’t done anything this summer since the virus. We really missed not being able to see the oldest son and his family in May. He says he may get to come here for Christmas. Cross fingers! 🙂

I hope everyone is healthy! Have a good weekend!

Same Ole Day

This whole virus thing is definitely crazy. It hasn’t been real different for us. We normally stay home. Now, if the restaurants are completely shut down that will be a whole different story. We tend to eat out for entertainment. Not everyday but we do get ice cream, drinks, and the occasional meal. It will affect my daughter’s employment. She has her hours cut currently but still holding a job. The younger son who works with her unfortunately was laid off. We try to eat out still to help out the businesses but we can’t do too much in case hubby’s hours get cut. So far he is doing ok because he is a truck driver, but not in the food industry. Our son that is suppose to graduate this year landed a job helping the mechanic at hubby’s place of employment. The place is along the interstate by no where else so they should be fine with no spreading, hopefully. The son has enjoyed not having school because he has been able to work more than Saturdays.

I am sad he can’t finish out his senior year at school. Our state closed for the rest of this school year. Bummed. He isn’t sad about prom because he didn’t go last year and wasn’t planning on it this year. His brother that is a junior is sad because he has a date who already has her dress. Sad. Knowing my creative and bored junior he will come up with some way to still have prom. 🙂 Just low numbers, which their group of friends would make the 10 and under. Maybe outside? Grill party in fancy dresses? Ideas are endless.

The boys start elearning April 1st. Not too sure about this. Nothing against the teachers, just my kids. They may not listen to me about appearing for checkins. I believe they will get the work done just not the rest of requirements. Sigh. The senior kid really needs teacher in person. He is not an online learner, textbook all the way. Needless to say the laptop for him is not useful or been used much. But we will give it a try! Another sad note, both my boys had hands on learning classes that they will miss. It definitely won’t be fun online because they are already saying no to watching videos of the stuff, even though they watch 100s of YouTube videos. Stubborn kids. We will figure it out.

This of course hasn’t changed much for me for working already at home. My job has been lacking projects since last summer which is frustrating as heck. I have to say having everyone here ALL the time is annoying because they love me soooo much they talk to me all the time when I am working. LOL

Changes and more changes. Makes life interesting.

The oldest son and family who live out East is doing well. It sort of helped them out because now the son doesn’t have to go to the ship so they are all together. He is in the Navy and landed the on land job last Fall that kept him from deploying with the ship. Nice job. A bit of a promotion. He was suppose to go out for his normal training for nuclear engineering and possibly stay until they made it back. But now no traveling so he is at home with his family. Good news I think.

My new word to repeat is sad……sad…..sad…..sad times.

End of School Year

I see it has been a month since the last post. It has been a busy month for sure. We were getting ready for our second grand baby to be born. She was born about a week ago! A beautiful girl named ZeQara. She is fun and adorable. Mommy is doing good as well. 🙂 She and mommy are living with us currently. ZeQara is a good baby so far.  🙂  I tell her mom that means she will be ornery when she is older. LOL

Hopefully not, but you know.   🙂

We were blessed with our four kids being pretty good babies. ZeQara’s mom(oldest kid) is so far the orneriest of them all. Still have two going through high school, so one could win that honor yet. The youngest at times tries.

I sure can not believe how fast time flies. I remember as a young kid wanting time to speed up. The adults would say oh just wait, it will go by so fast when you are an adult. I didn’t believe them. Wowzers!

Definitely, they were correct.

Then what will we ever do?

Spoil grand kids? I think that is a winner! We have two now! Bummer the grandson is many miles away, but that might change someday! If not, maybe traveling will be in the plans to see him. Miss his parents as well.  🙂

We are in for some more rain tonight. We have had way too much for the month. Our lake and rivers are getting too high. We did see a tornado two days ago that was along side our neighborhood, a mile or two away, so there was no damage. Hopefully the weather person is wrong for more storms tonight.

Well, I best figure out supper, have a good night everyone! 🙂

On To The Second Week

My boys have made it through their first week of school!

It was more of a struggle today, for me too. So far, they seem to like their classes. Both of them have had homework and they were doing it! My boys like to skip that homework thing so I hope the finishing it will continue.

When I was growing up, I would have never dreamed of not having homework done. I felt lost and anxious if I didn’t have it done. I needed the homework to learn as well. The boys seem to breeze by but they would do so much better if they would study.

Crazy.

They do remember things way better than I did, so I will give them credit there. I was one that had to study for a test the night before and a little bit before the test. Then it all went out of the brain…..lol

Good heavens…their backpacks are packed full! They won’t use their lockers since they are allowed their backpacks in classes. I guess that gets them ready for college. I am going to have to get them a chiropractor appointment!  🙂

This school year I am incorporating breakfast before school. Previous years, it was quick snacks before or cereal. I did good last week. Three of the days I made egg type breakfasts and the other two days were a large muffin and a donut.

My youngest rides the bus because he thinks we get there too late, we don’t, and so he eats again at school! That is ok with me.

Surprising since all summer he barely ate anything other than what I cooked at night. He is my skinny six-foot kid. He needs some meat on those bones!

Have your schools began yet?

Summer is for Relaxing

I did the boys’ school enrollment today. Where did the summer go? We were not even busy. It has been a relaxing summer. The way it should be.

I remember growing up being involved in softball but the rest of the summer was being with friends and family. No crazy schedule. I went to one camp every summer for a week, dance camp. I can not fathom how the parents today put their kids in every thing they can during the summer. Which to each their own, not saying it’s wrong, but I think kids should have a relaxing summer. Because before long, they will be in the grown-up world of no more summers off, unless your job allows it. 🙂

I don’t even push a summer job unless they want it. I like the freedom of not having so many separate schedules to work with when we want to do stuff as a family. Now, come their last year of high school, I will definitely push a job so they can get ready for the workforce. To me, you are a kid once! As crazy as school years can get I think summer downtime is a must. Gives them a break. So much goes on in school nowadays. Perhaps that is why kids are stressed to the max. Maybe.

I do know once a child gets out on their own, they tend to not want mom and dad around as much. If yours does, you are one lucky family.  🙂

I also want my kids to enjoy their twenty’s. I feel this way because I had my first kid at 19 almost 20, by one month.  LOL.  I don’t regret because it did help me to grow up, but I missed out on all the young fun.

There are positives and negatives to every age you have kids. One positive to having kids young, I am a young grandma! 🙂 I can always have those fun moments in my 50s, the new 20! LOL

The best part is I can ask my kids if they want to go! I don’t have to worry about being a good influence anymore! LOL

Happy day to you all! 🙂

Summer Struggles

Guess summer really doesn’t start for another week, but I call it summer when school gets out. Shoot, with the high temperatures lately, maybe they should move summer up to May.

The middle son had to go to summer school for failing a class the first semester. I have been taxi driver for him. He did get motivated to do most of the work at home so he could test out and be done with it. He did pass. Not a high-grade but he did pass.

I was conflicted with the class being online and only a mentor in the room. To me, shouldn’t a teacher be teaching since obviously the student didn’t understand the class to begin with? We also had to pay for said class, which now I am sure it was the online fee.

When I was in school many moons ago, if you failed, it was added to your schedule the next semester. I didn’t fail, but I heard a kid talking about having three English classes once. Crazy.

After talking to another parent, this math teacher failed 22 students in this class. Hmmm. I think maybe the school should be looking at this teacher. She doesn’t seem to be able to teach. My middle son said he couldn’t follow her at all. When he started the online class, he mentioned that it was nothing what she taught. Weird. I found out after the fact, that she didn’t even grade his final because he was already failing. Wow. That does not sound like a teacher that wants kids to succeed to me. I sure hope he doesn’t get her again.

This is also my kid that isn’t into school so it is a struggle, than to have a teacher that doesn’t care adds fuel to the problem. 😦

He is also an introvert, so he doesn’t speak up. Another struggle.

On a better note, he took a welding class and loved it. He is looking into going to welding school after graduating in two years. Made me happy. Trade jobs are good ones and pay well.  🙂  And then he also says after that school, he may join the Army. Sad face.

I have two in the military, not sure about another. But, I will support him with whatever he chooses.

The youngest son wanted a job this summer, but found out you have to be older for most of them. Plus, I told him to wait until next summer when he can drive himself there. Schedules tend to overlap for this taxi driver. 🙂 Sure wish I got paid for that. LOL

How’s your summer been going?

Back To School

1502912444754 My two teenagers this morning before school! Time is flying! I have to steal pictures anymore for school days. That is ok, makes for some interesting poses. 🙂 They are both in High School now. I hope their day went well.

IMG_20170816_084332 This was my day this morning! Celebrate with donuts and a Pepsi! I actually didn’t drink much of that Pepsi. I’m getting to where a Pepsi is not tasty in the mornings. Now, I do enjoy my afternoon one. 🙂

Happy to say I did go to the YMCA today and exercised! Now, my treadmill didn’t look like that but that would be kind of fun. 🙂 It felt good to get back. I failed during the summer going. I thought the kids would go with me a lot, nope. Strive for next summer. I am going to stay on track, yes. Yes. Yes. Keep telling myself that. 🙂

IMG_20170816_125815 When I left the YMCA I headed to the supermarket to get me a chef salad and Fiji water! It was yummy. I think that makes up for the donuts and pop this morning, right? 🙂

A pretty good start to my return of a school routine! 🙂

Have a great day! 🙂

Kids Spark Thoughts

IMG_20170722_144608 I believe this bridge was at St. Louis but my memory fades at times. 🙂 I had the joy of driving through there when we went on our trip to see the oldest son in South Carolina in July. I knew I should have labeled the pictures that night. Guess that is what I get for thinking I would remember for sure. 🙂

IMG_20170725_144915 I do know this one! It is at Charleston, South Carolina by the Aquarium.  Love bridges. It was a nice day as well. I could sit by the water and watch the ships move about all day long if I was allowed. 🙂

The bridges bring me peace and calmness. I needed that right now after the afternoon today.

Nothing terrible, just the stress of getting two teenage boys their class schedules. Took the youngest one and his friend to the Freshmen school first. My tenth grader decided to wait in the car. 🙂 They have the Freshmen in separate buildings because the High School is not big enough to hold them all. It is in a way neat, because the military kids on base join them because there is no High School on base. This is a way to get to know one another better. I think last year it added about 150 kids to my middle son’s class. Pretty good amount of new students.

The school is three floors. I tried to explain to my son if you find all your first floor one’s at once then go to the second floor, etc., it would be the easiest to do. He wouldn’t listen. He even got grumpy butt with me. Perhaps, his logic was fine with going in the order of his classes, but mine was logical for this old lady to walk three floors in the most logical way. 🙂 I went through the first day of classes but then when he decided to do the second day’s classes I retired to the hallway close to the front doors.

They had really cool rocking chairs that looked like desk chairs. Now, where were those when I was going to school. I even had a great little conversation with a young grade school kid. He was cute. He loved the rocking chair too. 🙂

Then it was off to the main High School to find the tenth grader’s classes. Boy was that fun. Whomever designed that school decades ago made it insane. We had half floor levels before you got to the second floor. Weird. There was no logical movement around the school because you had hallways branching off here and there. I think those were done because they were additions at one time as the population grew. I was lost. At least my son knows where his first class is and a general idea of the other classes. I hope.  He is shy so he doesn’t ask many questions. Sigh.

I hope the new school passes this Fall. They need it. Not just because of design problems but it is faltering in many areas. The funding is there but of course you have those that can’t see why spend that much money on a school. It is not an area that is decreasing in population so it makes sense to build a new one.

The middle school the boys went to was built around the early  90s I believe and it is so nice. They built it like a half-moon where each grade has its own area and then it opens up into the cafeteria, auditorium, and two gyms. They actually hold all the teacher learning seminars there for the district.  Their grade school was new as well and was designed like the middle school. Guess we will see what happens.

Then my tenth grader comes down to my escape room and says I can’t find my class schedule. Really? Not even five hours and you have lost your schedule. Shaking my head. So the hunt was on. He found it in the trash. Shaking my head again.

Here is to hoping the school year goes well for us and everyone in blog land. 🙂

Blog Anniversary!

Yay me! Five years!

I’m not quite where I would like to be with this blog but I do enjoy having it. I wouldn’t change having it. Some months I do good with writing a lot and other months time speeds by.  🙂

I am very thankful for those of you that take the time to read and comment.  🙂

I hope to have many more year anniversaries.  🙂

This past week was pretty busy with end of school stuff for the boys. It was nice to not get up at an early hour this morning. The youngest son was up early. The middle son slept in a bit but that was because he was up late.

Going to have to figure out a regular schedule there. I don’t want them staying up every night late during the summer, makes for a rough school start.

Now, both the younger two kids will be in high school this Fall.

Time is flying by.

The oldest kid has been out of high school for eight years this month and the oldest son has been out for five years. And to make things ancient I have been out for 28 years! Yikes!

The oldest kid, daughter, moved out this month. She had been staying with us for about ten months. It was fun. She wasn’t always here so not like I saw her all the time, but it was nice getting more time with her than if she was living elsewhere.  🙂

But, she is only about twenty minutes away in her new apartment.  🙂

The oldest son, celebrated his 23rd birthday yesterday! Does not seem possible. He is really far away and waiting to go on his first ship for the Navy!

Exciting news,  him and his wife are about to have our first grand baby.  🙂  The due date is on our wedding anniversary! How exciting!

Sad part is it would have been our third grand baby but the daughter had two that didn’t survive.  😦  But she is excited to be an Aunt! 🙂

I hope we can go see him before he ships out but that thing called money tends to get in the way.  😦

I hope everyone has a fun and safe Memorial Weekend! 🙂

Thanks again for reading my blog! 🙂

Traffic Whoas

My doodling of what happened today after dropping the middle son off at school.

I couldn’t believe this person did this in front of a semi. People don’t use common sense when driving. Luckily it worked out ok but what if that semi wasn’t paying attention. I know to give a car’s length away from a semi because they may have to stop fast. This was a short span of road to be speeding up to get around the semi. Originally the car was behind me. It is a school zone too. Wish a cop would have been around. I did see up the road the car hit two red lights. Karma. So all that speeding didn’t really help.

I wonder if the semi driver was peeing his pants. Lol. I held my breath when I saw it happen. I was shocked.

My vent for the day.

Have a good one. 😊
