Traffic Whoas

My doodling of what happened today after dropping the middle son off at school.

I couldn’t believe this person did this in front of a semi. People don’t use common sense when driving. Luckily it worked out ok but what if that semi wasn’t paying attention. I know to give a car’s length away from a semi because they may have to stop fast. This was a short span of road to be speeding up to get around the semi. Originally the car was behind me. It is a school zone too. Wish a cop would have been around. I did see up the road the car hit two red lights. Karma. So all that speeding didn’t really help.

I wonder if the semi driver was peeing his pants. Lol. I held my breath when I saw it happen. I was shocked.

My vent for the day.

Have a good one. 😊

A – and A + + Art Day 1

img_20170301_164107_116 Day 1, note card.

I’m participating in an art challenge this month. Coloring. My art looks pretty simple compared to the other ladies on the site. They have some awesome stuff. I went simple because this will be sent to a LetterMo pen pal. I will write on the other side. LetterMo was last month but I like to reply as long as they send me letters. #thedailymarker30day

People who drive on other’s grass or park on it. I see this everyday picking up my son from school. Drives me nuts. It isn’t just a little bit of the tires. They completely drive on it and turn etc. Then they cause a mess with traffic trying to enter the ongoing traffic. My grandparents taught me to not even walk on someone else’s yard let alone drive. Shaking my head.

It’s March 1st, sunny and warmer than normal! 🙂 Spring is around the corner. I bought a tulip plant the other day because this weather is giving me Spring fever. 🙂 It is sitting on my window ledge in the Creative Cave! 🙂

What do you think about the – and + for the day?

What Have I Been Up To?

  1. Survived 2nd week of boys back to school! 🙂
  2. Solved middle son’s health issue. So relieved it turned out minor. He is a smiley boy again.
  3. Surviving the oldest and only daughter invading our house. LOL. She moved back in for a while. It’s been nice to have a female around once more.
  4. Began editing my novel, again. I believe I have solved the first chapter whoas. It was holding me back. Now on to checking grammar and flow of the rest of the book. 🙂
  5. Getting a lot of computer work done. Some paid, some not. Lots of learning being accomplished. I love learning. I soak in all I can.
  6. I have started going to the library again. It helps that my middle son’s school is close by. 🙂 Win, win situation. I go a little early and spend time reading. End result, reading more! 🙂
  7. I have been going through totes, boxes, and files. Tossing, sorting, and finding forgotten treasures. It has been way overdue. I have separated the 4 kids’ stuff into their own tote. Plan on making memory journals instead of traditional photo albums. It’s been fun. 🙂

Roadblock=Don’t Use

ID-1002616841(Credit to Bing.com images)

I am shaking my head this morning like most mornings. My city is working on a stretch of road that is close to my sons’ Middle School. It is a small stretch but it does force cars to take a long detour. It is completely blocked off with those cute signs above which means stay out. They have prepared it with gravel for the next step of laying asphalt, I assume. This morning I see a car stop in front, he gets out and moves one of them. At first, thinking ok maybe he works there and is checking something which still don’t know why you would need to drive in.

I finish taking the boys to school and come back by and see that he drove through. He did not even close it back up. The not so law abiding man didn’t want to turn around so he drove through so he could get to the highway that is a few feet away. Seriously!

Then I look in my rear mirror and see a pickup go through the open space. Well, maybe the pickup worker works there. Because there have been pickups there. Nope, he drives through as well. Good grief people. A simple rule of the road if it has roadblocks, that means stay out!

I don’t know why it surprised me this morning, I see so many ignoring road rules everyday. I think drivers need to go back and relearn left hand turns which is a major one they do wrong. I don’t know how many times I have been almost hit because they cut into my side of the road. Another one is the use of blinkers, that one seems to not exist in the drivers mind.

We live on a really busy road that leads to a grade school. I will slow down and use my blinker to let the driver know I am turning into my driveway. I can not believe how many do not pay attention and who are on my tail end! It’s like buddy get off my bumper!!!! I have properly showed you I am turning.

Our city is also a hands free cellphone area. They ignore that law too. I see so many looking down at a phone or have it up to their ear. And now we have car makers putting WiFi in cars! What the heck for? I thought we were suppose to be trying to get away from cellphone use while driving. Shaking my head. Hubby and I saw one person using his laptop while driving one day. Yep he was all over the road!

We are hoping to buy a new car when the pickup is paid off, but I don’t want all that computer crap in it. And I love technology, but when I get in a car it is to drive and pay attention to my surroundings. 🙂

I guess my point of this rant is, why do people think breaking minor laws is ok? Laws are there to help protect. Sure makes it difficult to teach your own kids to follow the laws, but I will keep doing it.

On that note, I did get me an early morning Pepsi to calm my nerves. Ok, it may not do that but sure is comfort. 🙂

Have a great day! A bit chilly here but sun is shining!

Back In The Groove…I Think

Lazy found his spot This is Lazy.

I decided to rearrange my living room. I had not done that in quite awhile. Normally, I do it about each season. As soon as I positioned the couch and folded the blanket Lazy perched himself on the blanket. He is a goofy cat.

Then he decided he needed to lay on my son’s school binder.

Lazy and EmoBear sitting on binder

He doesn’t seem to mind that he is almost too big for it. 🙂

The grey cat is Emobear. He just finished scratching my green coat.

Here is our third cat, Ninja. She is enjoying the new toy I got them. The feathers are about gone already.

Ninja and toy

Yes, I let all three boys talk me into the cats about three years ago. They have definitely been fun to have.

I could do without the cat hair, but who couldn’t.  Lint rollers have become my new best friend.

The cats have been the highlight of my summer. We really did not do anything interesting this year. Not one camping trip. I am sad. I guess a goal to shoot for next summer.

The boys began school last week. YAY! Back to a routine, that is what I like. Plus, it makes life more interesting. 🙂

The school changed their hours to earlier start time and I am amazed the boys have adapted well.

I am not a morning person but I must say I have become more of one in the last few years. I never thought that would happen. 🙂

I hope everyone had a great summer. We did even though no big adventures. I guess we will have to make up for it this fall.

Did you have any adventures?

The beginning of school means back to routine and back to writing regularly! I will be blogging more!

Why Does A Watermelon Float?

Science Adric 2014 001 My youngest son, Adric and his watermelon project.

It is that time of year when the kids come home and say science project!

I cringe.

I love science but I hate explaining the whys. I love the ending project where he gets to decorate the board. It takes everything I have to NOT do it for him. I cringe with each crooked writing. I think this comes from when I was a kid.

My grandma would help me with my school projects. She would actually get a ruler and use a pencil to draw a line that I would have to print my lettering on. It had to be perfect. I didn’t get it back then, but I do now.

I did almost get out that ruler and pencil tonight though. I really wanted to but I kept thinking will the teacher be upset and think he had no part in the project.

Luckily, my teachers never thought that and I always received awesome reviews and great grades on my projects.

Adric did a really good job. There is only a slight slant in his writing for the data part. We did print out the long writing with the computer and then he cut it with my fancy scissors. The only part I helped with was the actual project.

A knife was involved and I don’t think a fifth grader needed to use one. 🙂

Science Adric 2014 008

He was dangerous enough with the giant fork.

Science Adric 2014 004

I kept telling him watch the other fingers, no need to go to the hospital tonight. 🙂 The look was in his eyes to stab that watermelon recklessly.

No mishaps thank goodness.

In conclusion, the watermelon floats because it is air tight. Something to do with density and etc etc. I told you I don’t like explain.

It took us cutting the rind off for any of the watermelon to actually sink and even then it floated a little bit.

Science Adric 2014 011 Still floats

Science Adric 2014 012 Cut off the rind and in pieces, finally sank a bit.

It was fun doing the project with my son.

Good memories. 🙂

And now we have watermelon!

And it is already clean! 🙂

There is even some great banners for all sorts of products for shopping. I get a small commission of what you buy. 🙂
Thank you!

I will be adding more art as I get it done! 🙂

The boys will be back in school in two days! Yes!

I have enjoyed them this summer, they actually didn’t fight as much as previous summers. A definite plus!

I should be able to get a few things more done with a bit of peace and quiet. I hope. 🙂

I tend to run into that procrastinator person once in awhile. 😦

On the writing page there is a link for my book. It is from beginning to what I have completed for editing thus far. I know some might want to read from the beginning instead of in the middle. I hope to really go full force this month and get-er done! 🙂 Only 17 more chapters to go….

Hoping everyone has a great school year, August, etc etc….don’t want to say Fall yet because I LOVE summer!

Cheerio!
