Summer is for Relaxing

I did the boys’ school enrollment today. Where did the summer go? We were not even busy. It has been a relaxing summer. The way it should be.

I remember growing up being involved in softball but the rest of the summer was being with friends and family. No crazy schedule. I went to one camp every summer for a week, dance camp. I can not fathom how the parents today put their kids in every thing they can during the summer. Which to each their own, not saying it’s wrong, but I think kids should have a relaxing summer. Because before long, they will be in the grown-up world of no more summers off, unless your job allows it. 🙂

I don’t even push a summer job unless they want it. I like the freedom of not having so many separate schedules to work with when we want to do stuff as a family. Now, come their last year of high school, I will definitely push a job so they can get ready for the workforce. To me, you are a kid once! As crazy as school years can get I think summer downtime is a must. Gives them a break. So much goes on in school nowadays. Perhaps that is why kids are stressed to the max. Maybe.

I do know once a child gets out on their own, they tend to not want mom and dad around as much. If yours does, you are one lucky family.  🙂

I also want my kids to enjoy their twenty’s. I feel this way because I had my first kid at 19 almost 20, by one month.  LOL.  I don’t regret because it did help me to grow up, but I missed out on all the young fun.

There are positives and negatives to every age you have kids. One positive to having kids young, I am a young grandma! 🙂 I can always have those fun moments in my 50s, the new 20! LOL

The best part is I can ask my kids if they want to go! I don’t have to worry about being a good influence anymore! LOL

Happy day to you all! 🙂

Summer Struggles

Guess summer really doesn’t start for another week, but I call it summer when school gets out. Shoot, with the high temperatures lately, maybe they should move summer up to May.

The middle son had to go to summer school for failing a class the first semester. I have been taxi driver for him. He did get motivated to do most of the work at home so he could test out and be done with it. He did pass. Not a high-grade but he did pass.

I was conflicted with the class being online and only a mentor in the room. To me, shouldn’t a teacher be teaching since obviously the student didn’t understand the class to begin with? We also had to pay for said class, which now I am sure it was the online fee.

When I was in school many moons ago, if you failed, it was added to your schedule the next semester. I didn’t fail, but I heard a kid talking about having three English classes once. Crazy.

After talking to another parent, this math teacher failed 22 students in this class. Hmmm. I think maybe the school should be looking at this teacher. She doesn’t seem to be able to teach. My middle son said he couldn’t follow her at all. When he started the online class, he mentioned that it was nothing what she taught. Weird. I found out after the fact, that she didn’t even grade his final because he was already failing. Wow. That does not sound like a teacher that wants kids to succeed to me. I sure hope he doesn’t get her again.

This is also my kid that isn’t into school so it is a struggle, than to have a teacher that doesn’t care adds fuel to the problem. 😦

He is also an introvert, so he doesn’t speak up. Another struggle.

On a better note, he took a welding class and loved it. He is looking into going to welding school after graduating in two years. Made me happy. Trade jobs are good ones and pay well.  🙂  And then he also says after that school, he may join the Army. Sad face.

I have two in the military, not sure about another. But, I will support him with whatever he chooses.

The youngest son wanted a job this summer, but found out you have to be older for most of them. Plus, I told him to wait until next summer when he can drive himself there. Schedules tend to overlap for this taxi driver. 🙂 Sure wish I got paid for that. LOL

Blog Anniversary!

Yay me! Five years!

I’m not quite where I would like to be with this blog but I do enjoy having it. I wouldn’t change having it. Some months I do good with writing a lot and other months time speeds by.  🙂

I am very thankful for those of you that take the time to read and comment.  🙂

I hope to have many more year anniversaries.  🙂

This past week was pretty busy with end of school stuff for the boys. It was nice to not get up at an early hour this morning. The youngest son was up early. The middle son slept in a bit but that was because he was up late.

Going to have to figure out a regular schedule there. I don’t want them staying up every night late during the summer, makes for a rough school start.

Now, both the younger two kids will be in high school this Fall.

Time is flying by.

The oldest kid has been out of high school for eight years this month and the oldest son has been out for five years. And to make things ancient I have been out for 28 years! Yikes!

The oldest kid, daughter, moved out this month. She had been staying with us for about ten months. It was fun. She wasn’t always here so not like I saw her all the time, but it was nice getting more time with her than if she was living elsewhere.  🙂

But, she is only about twenty minutes away in her new apartment.  🙂

The oldest son, celebrated his 23rd birthday yesterday! Does not seem possible. He is really far away and waiting to go on his first ship for the Navy!

Exciting news,  him and his wife are about to have our first grand baby.  🙂  The due date is on our wedding anniversary! How exciting!

Sad part is it would have been our third grand baby but the daughter had two that didn’t survive.  😦  But she is excited to be an Aunt! 🙂

I hope we can go see him before he ships out but that thing called money tends to get in the way.  😦

I hope everyone has a fun and safe Memorial Weekend! 🙂

Thanks again for reading my blog! 🙂

Back In The Groove…I Think

Lazy found his spot This is Lazy.

I decided to rearrange my living room. I had not done that in quite awhile. Normally, I do it about each season. As soon as I positioned the couch and folded the blanket Lazy perched himself on the blanket. He is a goofy cat.

Then he decided he needed to lay on my son’s school binder.

He doesn’t seem to mind that he is almost too big for it. 🙂

The grey cat is Emobear. He just finished scratching my green coat.

Here is our third cat, Ninja. She is enjoying the new toy I got them. The feathers are about gone already.

Ninja and toy

Yes, I let all three boys talk me into the cats about three years ago. They have definitely been fun to have.

I could do without the cat hair, but who couldn’t.  Lint rollers have become my new best friend.

The cats have been the highlight of my summer. We really did not do anything interesting this year. Not one camping trip. I am sad. I guess a goal to shoot for next summer.

The boys began school last week. YAY! Back to a routine, that is what I like. Plus, it makes life more interesting. 🙂

The school changed their hours to earlier start time and I am amazed the boys have adapted well.

I am not a morning person but I must say I have become more of one in the last few years. I never thought that would happen. 🙂

I hope everyone had a great summer. We did even though no big adventures. I guess we will have to make up for it this fall.

Did you have any adventures?

The beginning of school means back to routine and back to writing regularly! I will be blogging more!

June Brings New Shows!

TV shows summer time

I’ve got my sticky notes taped up for the new shows during the summer!

I remember growing up they did not do this. Once the season was over in May the shows were random during the summer time. Or could it be I was outside more so I do not remember. Anyway, it sure does confuse me when the June shows begin. I have to remember the new lineup. This brain doesn’t remember well without the sticky notes.

Chalk one up for the creator of those sticky notes!

I do like that there are new shows but at the same time it usually means a long wait until next summer for the ones that make it back in the lineup. That part bites!

I love the fact that the TV listing is online so if I forget, sometimes they have a rerun of the show later. Not all of them but some.

Who can not love being able to watch them online if you miss. 🙂

We are so spoiled these days.

We also have OnDemand with our cable company to catch shows we miss. Though they don’t always put all of the shows on, that part is a bummer. But the nice thing about this one is I can watch on the TV as opposed to the computer. 🙂

I hate that cable companies are way more expensive than satellite companies. We have had both and still choose the cable over the satellite. 🙂 I think we like it because everyone can watch what they want in any room because we have a TV in about every room. Just wish they would give you ALL the channels for the one advance package deal.

It sucks that you have to add packages of channels to get certain channels. Never fails you end up with lots of extras that you don’t watch so you can have that one channel. Oh, well. And that is probably why they get away with it, is people like me will add it anyway. 🙂

It is nice to have the internet with the same company. Makes one less bill to keep track of for me. 🙂 Last month I saw on the bill that we should upgrade our modem to receive the fast speed internet that we pay for. Hubby took the old in and we got the new one. There is always a catch. We had to buy this one, but that means no monthly fee on the bill now. The speed is nice. Especially, with all the devices we have going on it. I have three boys who are into gaming so you can imagine the use of the internet.

We have yet to do any of the DVR’ing. We go with the basic cable box, no HD either. No reason to pay for all those extras. Channels yes. 🙂

With all these options to catch my favorite shows, I can still enjoy outside whenever I want and catch up later! 🙂

Ah, technology. 🙂

Thank you!

I will be adding more art as I get it done! 🙂

The boys will be back in school in two days! Yes!

I have enjoyed them this summer, they actually didn’t fight as much as previous summers. A definite plus!

I should be able to get a few things more done with a bit of peace and quiet. I hope. 🙂

I tend to run into that procrastinator person once in awhile. 😦

On the writing page there is a link for my book. It is from beginning to what I have completed for editing thus far. I know some might want to read from the beginning instead of in the middle. I hope to really go full force this month and get-er done! 🙂 Only 17 more chapters to go….

Hoping everyone has a great school year, August, etc etc….don’t want to say Fall yet because I LOVE summer!

Cheerio!
