Morning Sunshine

17904266_10154373872287483_2964761958218887982_n (My breakfast this morning)

I was in the mood for eggs this morning. 🙂 I’m usually terrible with fried eggs but this time I did not break the yoke. I wasn’t impatient for once. 🙂

Breakfast reminds me of growing up living with my grandparents. Grandma always had breakfast for grandpa and I every morning. Sometimes cereal, eggs, pancakes (Sundays) etc. The point was we didn’t leave the house without eating and it was all three of us together. I always had orange juice and a vitamin with my breakfast. I rarely got sick. Maybe a cold once a year but a mild one. Grandma was organized and in charge.

I did not learn that lesson from her. My youngest son does eat cereal in the morning, most of the time. The middle son grabs a quick bite usually. Today I made him frozen waffles with peanut butter on it and a vitamin.  🙂

When the other two kids were growing up, breakfast stuff was available and sometimes they ate it on their own. Other times they would eat at school. Me, I was terrible when I was working, never gave myself enough time to grab something, so it was stuff at work. It usually was something not so healthy. Now, that I am at home, I eat way better.

Having a healthy breakfast in the morning is something I wish I had done better for all four kids and hubby. We still are fairly healthy, good genes, I guess. 🙂  It might not be all my fault, society as a whole is in such a hurry in the mornings that I think a lot of people grab quick stuff. It is the thing to do.

We do eat supper together and even when I worked. Sometimes it was late at night when everyone was home but we made a point majority of the time to eat together. Now and then one or more would be gone for something but I think we did pretty good.

We eat together at night now. The adult daughter living with us, most of the time eats with us, so that makes me happy. We don’t allow cellphones at the table either. 🙂 Probably once a week is make your own meal and that is at different times. I like a break from cooking plus it helps them to learn how to figure out a meal for themselves. Sometimes leftovers and other times quick meals.

One thing that is the same, there is a TV in view from the table, even growing up. It has not hampered any conversations believe it or not. We tend have some interesting ones while eating. Kids are rather comical. Good family time. 🙂

Do you eat together? How many meals?

—- growing up,

  • breakfast together
  • lunch when school was out
  • supper when grandma wasn’t working otherwise it was grandpa and I.

—- now,

  • breakfast on weekends half the time
  • lunch is on our own unless I switch the day’s meal to then and not supper
  • supper almost always.

Times change and not always for the better.

A Mile Marker…100th Post!

100th-Post1 (credit to Bing.com images)

My stats says this is the 100th post so it better not make a liar out of me. 🙂

My grandpa always said I was “windy” growing up. I never thought when I began this blog that I would get to this point in two years time. I congratulate those that can blog several times a week. I suppose in time I will get to that point, maybe.

My problem is I think of something fun to blog about, discuss it with my “thoughts” and then I forget what it was when I finally sit down to write it. I have a small notebook but forget to jot the ideas down. I guess I should start putting scratch paper everywhere. 🙂

OR

I could place my post-it notes around the house.

14 - 1 I have plenty!

I can usually recall a memory from a few notes so the small ones would be plenty big. I can write pretty small.

Actually, that jogs my memory from school days.

I can remember a few of us girls going through a phase of seeing how tiny we could write. It drove the teachers nuts! The writing was nice and neat, so I don’t understand why they frowned handing the paper back.

Of course, now that I am that age, I do see the problem. I imagine after grading tons of papers the last thing they wanted to see was something so small they needed a magnifying glass to read it. 🙂 It sure was fun though.

I almost messed up blogging about my 100th post. I did those two reblogs, about did another, when a little light bulb went off in my head and I remembered I was about to hit the 100th!

Phew, that was close.

I meant for the 100th to be my first book cover reveal, but I am still working on it. I am also working on my edits. I am over halfway done. When I edit, I edit one chapter at a time. I actually end up editing it close to four times if not more.

I do my crossing out in red,

type it, reread,

retype, shake my head a few times,

talk to myself about how ridiculous that sounds, grab a Pepsi, watch some detective movie,

reread, retype,

daydream the scene with me in it. (LOL), go on to next chapter.

I will come back after a few chapters and read from the beginning till the end of my editing. I can not seem to do it in one sweep from the beginning to the end. In fact, I can not tell you my ending as of this moment. I wrote it a year ago. I’m weird. 🙂

I’m hoping to be ready to hit that publish button by the end of the month. Hopefully, the movie watching won’t delay that. 🙂

I want to start the next book during Camp NaNoWriMo in April. The books are part of what will be a trilogy. I rocked it last year so I have a good vibe about this year!

I like writing in the warmer months better than the colder months.  The last two years, November through February, I have not been inspired to write my book or edit it. I call it my vacation time. 🙂 Sounds good to me.

I have been struggling with the question of, will anyone like my book? I think that has made me slow down on editing the most. I hope people will like it, but at the same time, I am writing it for me first. I have wanted to write a book since I was in junior high.

I am thankful for the technology of e-books. I will complete one dream because of it. 🙂

When was the first time you wanted to publish a book?

Journal Time…July 18-24

Lake fun July 7th 2013 049
(Taken at Milford Lake close to our current home.)

July 18
Question? What are the ingredients for a perfect day?
Year 2012
Positive thoughts. Sunshine. Happy mood. Good self esteem. Full tummy. Pepsi. Someone to socialize with.

Year 2013
Sunshine. Family. Friends. Chocolate. Pepsi. Water. Warm. Laughs. Fun.

I like how sunshine and Pepsi stays on the list! 🙂

July 19
Question? What do you need to throw away?
Year 2012
Negative thoughts. Bad memories. Clutter in the brain as well as the home. Bad debts.

Year 2013
I need to go through all my storage boxes and throw out stuff I shouldn’t keep hanging onto. A bit of a hoarder.

I can tell I am in a happier place this year compared to last. It was about emotions before.

July 20
Question? Does anything hurt today?
Year 2012
Yes, tremendously. All my dad’s friends are here for his burial. I miss him. Hate that he had to suffer.

Year 2013
Nope. It’s been a good year so far. I am also being more positive. No room for negatives.

It has definitely been a better year.

July 21
Question? Who was the last person to make you angry?
Year 2012
Myself. I put off too many things. It comes back to bite me.

Year 2013
Not one person but a whole group, the Media. I hate when they glorify the ugly and try to make something to be what it is not. I couldn’t be a reporter. Once upon a time I wanted to be one.

I am more at peace with myself this year. Not as much putting off of stuff. Glad to be back writing and reading.

July 22
Question? Where do you go for good ideas?
Year 2012
All around. Read. Observe. Learn from bad ideas. Trial and error.

Year 2013
Internet. Books. TV. Observe people in public. Family. Friends. It is endless.

There are so many options for this.

Year 2012
Haven’t baked much been too hot of a summer. Been depressed also. Mac and cheese. Boys love it and hubby.

Year 2013
I made pancakes for the family on Sunday. Yum. Sausage too. Haven’t baked goodies cause its summer time.

My mood really plays a role in my cooking.

July 24
Question? What’s in your fridge?
Year 2012
Lots of condiments, eggs, milk, leftovers, cheese, orange juice, lunchmeat, cream cheese, coke, beer.

Year 2013
Grapes, cheese, lunchmeat, eggs, lettuce, apples, pickles, beer, pop, ketchup, mayo, mustard, dressings, cream cheese.

A few more healthy things, but basically the same. 🙂 Creature of habit.

Try try try

me two 005I am going to try it again. I joined Camp Nanowrimo for April to write my novel. I am staying with the 50,000 words even though this challenge one can set any number of word count. I did get me a T-shirt for the challenge hoping it will be my “muse”. Hey anything helps. 🙂 I wonder if I need to wash it everyday…:)

Of course, I won’t wear it everyday.

After I took this picture, I chopped all my hair off. I guess I needed a change to write this novel. Or could it be I was bored with the long hair. Or really wanting that warm weather to show up.

I went back into my novel for the first time since January and ended up scrapping a whole chapter. It sounded really ridiculous. I have been doing research on writing a novel to get me more prepared. At least that is what I tell myself, though I think it is just another way to put off writing. 🙂

I am going to achieve this. It is my dream. I have wanted to write a novel since I was a teenager. I just got side tracked the last 25 years. I feel the timing is right. I just got to get past this block in the story. I know what I want to write, just need to put it all together somehow, some way. 🙂

Yes, I have a good feeling about this. Now if the sunshine and warmth would come out I could go write in other nice places without being trapped at my desk area. I think that would help.

I think the groundhog lied. 😦
