Creative Cave is Coming!

image

The beginning of my creative cave!

I am excited. I think hubby is too so I can get everything out of our bedroom. 🙂

I think it will spark me to write and do my art more.  🙂

My writing is coming along with the first novel. I have not begun the second novel yet for NaNo but that is OK. I feel really good after doing the edits on the first novel which had me dragging my feet for so long. It is already giving me more ideas for the second one. I know I will still have to do polishing edits but at least the structure is better than when I wrote during NaNo a few years ago. I kept putting off the edits because I was not happy with the story line. Of course, I shaved so many words out, it is now a mini novel. LOL

I think that will be ok. I like reading long and short novels so I hope others will too. 🙂 I may not be cut out for writing long novels, at least not yet. I think in time I will become better because I have read lots of new author books and they have really blossomed from their first book.

I think I want to release them close together so trying really hard to get it done. Perhaps in February and then April. This story is a trilogy so part three will be wrote after the release of the first two. The third may take a little longer but definitely be released in the Fall. 🙂

My goal!

If I do not write another blog before Thanksgiving, Happy Thanksgiving!

Decor of Halloween!

14 - 5

I love having a fireplace to decorate. There is so much a person can do with it. An added bonus is the cats don’t jump up there so I can have pretties out. At least, they have not tried. 🙂 They have sniffed the scarecrows but I firmly say no and they give that look and walk on. I am amazed at night they haven’t dragged the scarecrows around, but the season is not over. Silly animals.

14 - 6

I once saw someone decorating a tree for all holidays and thought that was pretty cool. I don’t want a large tree up all the time so I bought this small one. I bought a green one so I could reuse for the Christmas holiday. Budget you know!

The foam sticky things make great ornaments. I put a paperclip on them to attach them to the tree. I used Halloween ribbon for my garland. I thought about lights but I have enough lights up at Christmas so I will give my electric bill a break. 🙂

Wall Decor14 - 414 - 3

The wall decorations I chose are a mixture of Halloween and Fall. It will be easy to take down the Halloween and keep some Fall décor up for Thanksgiving. I have noticed that Thanksgiving seems to be short changed when it comes to decorations. I have made some of my own that you will see next month.

14 - 214 - 1

I love the yellows, oranges, and reds of Fall time. Sunflowers remind me of my grandma, so I thought putting them on the TV stand was the place for them. Now, I can think of her when I sit down to watch a show.

Speaking of grandma, how about those Royals!!! Yay, she would have been so pleased to see they made the World Series. I live in Kansas, so definitely excited about them making it after all these years. One thing I never accomplished was taking grandma to a game. It is on my bucket list to go and I believe she will be there with me in spirit. 🙂

I have not decorated outside yet. I am saving that for when hubby can help. He loves to decorate for the trick or treaters. I have one son that still loves trick or treating. My two older kids did until they were in high school then they loved to decorate outside and scare the little kids that came to the house. 🙂

Living in the larger city the last two years we get a lot more trick or treaters. When we lived in the small town we were lucky to get a handful.

Previous years I would buy the candy for Halloween night and we would get all the leftovers. Now, having so many kids coming to the house we run out!

We can not have that, so candy has been in the bowl for a few weeks. I did chocolate first and now it is taffy, skittles, and starburst.

Of course, I hid some chocolate elsewhere for me. 🙂

Normally, we do not keep candy in the house but holidays is different. The boys know to ask first before having some. Even though, I’m sure they sneak a few.

Gobble Till You Wobble

The first stage, fine marker. I saw this saying on good ole Pinterest. Love that site. I did mostly Halloween projects last year, it was fun to do these Thanksgiving ones. It seems Thanksgiving tends to be left alone. I love the holiday. I miss the big holiday dinners that we had when I was growing up. I know we will have those again one day, I do have four kids after all. Multiply that and it equals big family. Yay!

I added the watercolor pencils. I like this art type. I like acrylic paints but need more practice.

The final product. I love it. It looks good with the other wall decor I did today.

Turkey Dance

My dancing turkey art for Thanksgiving. I don’t have a lot of Thanksgiving art to hang, decided to make my own. This is the drawing with fine marker.

The next stage, coloring with watercolor pencils. I am still learning the technique and enjoy the outcome.

The stage of adding water. I think it turned out good. I’m getting better at applying the water. I use to add to much water and then it would run. Progress!

Last stage, added a fun saying. It is now on my wall, on to the next project. Happy Sunday!

Gobble, gobble was yummy!

My Thanksgiving Day was really nice. My daughter had the big dinner and all four kids were together. I know that may not happen each year on the day it is suppose to but we will get together on some day in November. One must keep the family going strong and being together cause life goes way to fast to not spend a little time with each other. She even invited over three other soldiers that could not make it home which made it even more fun. Her boyfriend had his two nephews and they kept hubby and I rather busy. It was fun. I think I better get into better shape before my kids start having grandbabies because I was tired. LOL, but we enjoyed it.

We can not get enough turkey so we made a small one for us on Saturday with the two younger boys. Yum. Hubby did not get to make one last year because of being overseas so he was determined that he was making one. We feasted all weekend on turkey. I suppose we will make one more come Christmas time. Funny that the stores have them all year but we never think to make one except during the holiday time. We have had eight pumpkin pies in the last week, now that we make them from the can and not from the freezer, we are going crazy making them.

We did get our Christmas tree up this weekend. So far the cats have not destroyed it. We have the water bottle handy and ready to aim! They do not like that! LOL…

I did a little bit of shopping but I am one of those down to the last minute shoppers. I try to get organized but it just doesn’t work. I am a bit ahead of the game this year. I did some online Thanksgiving morning and snagged a couple gifts. I did go with the daughter and oldest son to Thanksgiving shopping that evening, but I didn’t buy anything. It was fun just to watch the other crazies and to help the daughter man the cart. It was our first time shopping, usually we are working. It was interesting. Gonna have to try it again.
