Just Another Day

I woke up to a bit of white fluffy snow. Not much though. I read one weather report about one inch and a half give or take. I guess it is winter time so it is to be expected. πŸ™‚

It is the bitter cold that I dislike. At least when I filled up my car, there was no wind so it didn’t feel as bad at 9 degrees out. LOL

I began the day watching a little Kitten Bowl on the Hallmark Channel. Love watching the cute little things. No, I don’t want anymore cats, two is enough. We did have three but one got out the door and never came home. Sure do miss him. 😦

Our Super Bowl food for the day was making burritos. I also made some nachos with all the fixings. Yummy. Hubby made the lunch after seeing I wasn’t ready to make them yet. LOL

Hmmm, maybe wait long enough someone else will make the meals. Why is it the mom always has to make the meals? The million dollar question. πŸ™‚

It was a lazy day of visiting with hubby before he had to go back to work. He didn’t get to come home until late yesterday afternoon. In fact, I had to pick him up forty miles away. He is a truck driver and ran out of hours. Since they have the new mandated electronic logs, it runs out you stop. He could fudge a bit but then the boss man will get upset so we don’t want that. Not as easy to fudge like the paper logs. Sucks a bit. Congress needs to butt out.

The middle son decided to watch the Super Bowl so I heard it but I was playing on my phone trying to ignore it. πŸ™‚

I’m not a fan. Once in a while I will catch the half time show but that is about it. I was glad he was interested though instead of playing his video games.

Part way through the Super Bowl I had to take hubby back to his truck. Glad the roads were clear. I hate driving on it. Or rather I hate other cars driving on it because most like to still speed. Ugh.

There I say goodbye for another five or ten days, one never knows for sure until the end of the week. I never thought he would pick this career after retiring from the military. He enjoys it other than the being away and missing out on family stuff.

Hopefully, only a year or two more. Crossing fingers. I need to win the lottery! πŸ™‚Β  He bought me two lottery tickets for my birthday that he gave to me. Ya, we are big spenders! πŸ™‚ The thought that counts.

Do I have to share if I win since he bought them?Β  πŸ™‚

I will think about that. πŸ™‚

How’s Your Year?

valentine-4(created by Me! πŸ™‚ Forget the year)

It hasn’t been terrible but hasn’t been good either. Mostly, little things that are stressful. Kids not minding, money issues, things breaking, etc. You get the drift. I guess ifΒ fate gets all these out-of-the-way these first few months and then smooth sailing the rest of the year than that will be great. πŸ™‚ Time will tell.

We sure have not had much winter time. I hope that doesn’t mean it will be a late winter when spring is supposed to hit. We have had cool temperatures just not the white stuff. πŸ™‚ Glad for hardly any below zero temps. I think we had one week of that and that was enough. πŸ™‚

Thanks to my stress level I haven’t achieved much of what I set out to do this year. But it is early. I hate being unproductive, gets me in a mood of depression. Not severe just down.

One good thing, I started back at the YMCA. A few times the boys have went with me which is fun. πŸ™‚ They like lifting weights.

I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day tomorrow. It is my favorite holiday. I love hearts and all things about it. No, you don’t have to have a certain someone to enjoy the holiday. πŸ™‚ I still loved it when I was single. Hubby will be on the road so he gave me three roses this weekend and we grilled with the boys. πŸ™‚ I think we have had more Valentine’s away than together during our whole time together. At least with technology one can still feel like they are there. I will send him a snapchat tomorrow. πŸ™‚ I do miss a tiny bit making Valentine’s for my kids’ classrooms. We made ours most of the time, except when we procrastinated and had to buy them. LOLΒ  πŸ™‚

valentines-2012(Here is one I made when the boys’ had to make them. I did it in Illustrator. πŸ™‚ )

Have a great day tomorrow! And the rest of the week, year etc! πŸ™‚

Pondering Thoughts

I’m sitting at the library parking lot waiting on middle son from school. Clouds are looking rather like winter. Not sure I’m ready for that.

I like winter but not the road mess and bitter temps. A nice snowfall is pretty. Just hate the messy streets. I’m hoping hubby can make it through the mountains safely, truck driver. Sounds like they will be wintery. Still shaking my head for him wanting to truck drive after military retirement. πŸ™‚

Earlier in the day I began editing my book. I went to print after I was done and looks like the printer has decided to die a slow broken ink death. I’m going to try one more cleaning and maybe order a cheap black ink before I let it go. I can’t complain it has lasted us about twelve years and was about hundred dollars. I sure will miss it. Of course, I don’t want to have to get use to a new one. Sigh.

I got home and did the cleaning on the printer and it worked. I hope to baby it along until after Christmas. Small budget so got to do what I got to do. πŸ™‚

I posted another chapter that I edited. Sorry for the wait. Last week was more about getting ready for the youngest son’s sleepover birthday celebration. One would think at his age he would be done with that. lol It went rather well. Good kids. They had fun. They even went outside and played hide in the dark tag. LOL. Glad kids will still play those fun games. I recall dark time was the fun time to do them. πŸ™‚

Later that evening I took them to the movie Hacksaw Ridge. Hubby was too tired so he stayed home. I think he didn’t want to put up with five teenagers. lol. Anyway, the movie was really good. A few laughs and definitely sad moments. One I will watch again, but wait until video.

It is expensive to go to the movies.

We might average one a month if we are lucky. We rent mostly. Of course, the boys picked the very front row! Well, it wasn’t too bad because the theatre is small and it has the rounded screen, so it seemed almost like you were right there. I guess we were right there. LOL Good times.

Have a great evening! Stay warm or stay cool, whichever. We are currently in between. πŸ™‚

Blueberry Muffin Murder

This book is set in Lake Eden, MN. It is about a young lady named Hannah who co-owns a bakery named The Cookie Jar. She has a meddling mom who can not stay out of fixing her love life. Hannah is seeing two men. One is a cop and the other a dentist. She can not decide between the two. πŸ™‚

Hannah tends to find dead bodies more than the average person. In this story the town people are getting ready for the big Winter Carnival when she finds the first dead body. The boyfriend cop warns her to stay out of the investigation. The cop has also named her other boyfriend as a suspect. Hannah can not believe it and thinks he is jealous of the dentist boyfriend. She does what she does best and begins to investigate. She also has the help of her realtor sister, Andrea. Andrea’s husband is also a cop. TheyΒ do not let either cop know what they are doing.

Through out the book Hannah whips up her cookies and muffins and delivers them while questioning people along the way. The recipes are listed in the book for the reader to try them out. πŸ™‚ They are simple and look yummy. I wrote them down and will give them a try. πŸ™‚ If I can bake them, anyone can. πŸ˜‰

The book is fun and entertaining with lots of great characters and plot twists. There is a whole series of these books by this author. I have read a few and enjoy each one. Eventually, I will read them all. πŸ™‚ I discovered the author while visiting the local library.
