I Did It Again

I signed up for NaNoWriMo!

I have never won a November challenge. The last few years I have not accomplished writing even ten percent of the 50,000 word goal.

The only time I won was the April Camp challenge. I was determined then unlike the November ones. I don’t know if it is because of the holiday time so lots of distractions or what the reason is. But I am going to give it another try. Why not. Plus, I don’t like to give up. I say every year I am not going to do the November challenge but then I sign up. 🙂

The first novel in my series of books to write has the basic bones it just needs some more “fluff” to make it fun and interesting.

Obeyville-Snoop-Book-Cover-1My current book cover for book #1.)

I am not sure if I will ever be able to write several books in a year. This first book has taken me since 2012 to write. I have the second book started but only a few chapters done. It is the book I signed up to do the challenge.

When I edited the first book I shrunk it from 50,000 words to about 25,000 words. There was a lot of extra stuff that made no sense. I was laughing when I read it, it was that absurd. 🙂 I imagine I will be more of a short Novella writer instead of a full novel writer.

Cheers to everyone doing the challenge!

Time to eat breakfast, waffles with peanut butter on it. Yum! 🙂

Thank You Rami!

2. I’ve always wanted to be a writer. Love having the internet to make this come true!

3. I love to learn. I wanted to be an Architect when I was in high school and went to college. Life threw some curves. Hope to finish it just because I want to.

4. My husband’s forgetful remembering of names has rubbed off on me. 🙂 Who are you?

5. I want to visit the castles in Europe. I secretly want to live in one. 🙂

6. I believe in the spirit world. I think my three cats are my grandpa, grandma, and my dad. 🙂

7. I envy my husband for all his traveling he has done and does. He has seen the world. I’ve seen the U.S.

8. I love to dance and really miss that part of going out on the weekend. Don’t miss the hangovers and drama.

11. I’m a number freak! I love making budgets and keeping track of statistics.

Game On, I accept your challenge!

I finally convinced hubby to play Words With Friends. He became frustrated with Candy Crush so was a bit hesitant to start another. 🙂

It wasn’t long after he began Candy Crush that he was kicking my butt at it. After awhile he got to a level that he couldn’t get past and so uninstalled it.  Once in a blue moon I will try but still stuck on my level. Of course, a level way lower than him.

At least with Words it should be an even challenge. 🙂 I may end up biting those words.

I’ve had fun playing these games on Facebook just because I can play with family and friends that live far away. My kids enjoy it. I know these are games that are less violent than their video consoles so they get a break from those. I don’t play as often anymore like I did in the beginning.

I was one of those Farmville freaks.

Go ahead and laugh. Now I’m sure my farm has disappeared as I haven’t logged in for over a year or more.

I do pay attention to not send game stuff to those who don’t want it. I usually hide everything so it doesn’t fill up the news feeds. I chuckle when someone puts a status of don’t send me game requests. There are many ways of ignoring requests without getting upset. I imagine it is because the notification goes to their phone and blows up their phone. I just turn those off.

My new addiction is words even though I disappeared from it over the holidays. Its a fun challenge that you can spend a minute on or a lot. It keeps your brain active. Who knows I might learn a new and exciting word for my novel.

Game on hubby! I accept the challenge. 🙂

Novel

I accomplished my first rough draft! I hit the 50,219 word count last night. It feels great! I will soon be editing and looking forward to bringing you some sneak peeks at my new novel. I am planning on a June time frame for self-publishing. It was fun writing, but I am glad to have it behind me for awhile. This weekend I am going no where near the manuscript. 🙂

Thank you to everyone who encouraged me. It helps just having those few people out there that believe in you. I am one step closer to checking off a dream come true, a published novel!

Have a great weekend everyone! Mine starts tomorrow! 🙂

Progress Progress and Progress

This was me last night!

I began writing in the afternoon and didn’t stop til 1:00 a.m. I was on a roll. I thought I could be someone that would write a little bit everyday. I found out I am not. I am one of those people who write when the light bulb goes off. It seems once I start I don’t stop til I run out of steam. I wrote last night 9,817 words and enjoyed every minute of it.

There was one point when I did this little dance of a neck stretch and hubby burst out laughing at me thinking I was acting out my writing. I had to explain that no, I was a bit stiff from sitting there the last few hours. 🙂

My total word count for Camp NaNoWriMo is…..drum roll…….30,011! Yippee!

I only need roughly 20,000 more! And less than a week to do it in. Panic, nah, if I can do that word count in one night I believe I will reach my goal! ONLY IF……

I don’t get stuck! LOL!

I can do it, I can do it! Repeat….I can do it.

Try try try

me two 005I am going to try it again. I joined Camp Nanowrimo for April to write my novel. I am staying with the 50,000 words even though this challenge one can set any number of word count. I did get me a T-shirt for the challenge hoping it will be my “muse”. Hey anything helps. 🙂 I wonder if I need to wash it everyday…:)

Of course, I won’t wear it everyday.

After I took this picture, I chopped all my hair off. I guess I needed a change to write this novel. Or could it be I was bored with the long hair. Or really wanting that warm weather to show up.

I went back into my novel for the first time since January and ended up scrapping a whole chapter. It sounded really ridiculous. I have been doing research on writing a novel to get me more prepared. At least that is what I tell myself, though I think it is just another way to put off writing. 🙂

I am going to achieve this. It is my dream. I have wanted to write a novel since I was a teenager. I just got side tracked the last 25 years. I feel the timing is right. I just got to get past this block in the story. I know what I want to write, just need to put it all together somehow, some way. 🙂

Yes, I have a good feeling about this. Now if the sunshine and warmth would come out I could go write in other nice places without being trapped at my desk area. I think that would help.

I think the groundhog lied. 😦

750words

I was going through some blogs on the internet, imagine that, and discovered a lovely sight called 750words.com. It is a place where you can log in everyday and just randomly write 750 words and receive points and badges. It is a way to get yourself to come up with fresh ideas or just to blow off steam and no one reads it but you. Nifty. I can now yell at my computer when I am mad at my hubby or kids. Cool!

I wasted no time writing away and believe it or not reached the 750 in no time. If writing my novel were just that easy, I would have several novels. The next day the sight analyzes your mood, your thinking, and so forth. It will have a link that you can share on Twitter or Facebook. I think I will like this and I think I will get some awesome brainstorming done. Hey whatever gets me motivated. I would like to think wine would do that, but it hasn’t, just another reason to have a nice glass of wine. 🙂

I can not wait until tomorrow to see how it analyzes my thoughts, scary. 🙂
